greenlands Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 phil if you have achoice i would face it south east more sun @ daylight if you cant make best of what you have best of luck I would go along with that, and if you can have it facing your house, that way you can watch the lofts through the window keep an eye open for cats etc,Also handy if there are any late comers . phil411 Posted October 23, 2009 Author Report Posted October 23, 2009 thanxs for ur fast replys and sorry about drawing but that wasa fast ruf guide but in the alloment next to me the position at the backof the garden is where the next door alloment had a loft that go blown over by wind and new loft seems to be sinking with soft ground or the wind seem to be giveing a batter to as it seems to be going round a roundabout
Roland Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Yes if wanting to keep an eye out of the window for cats etc. REmember you must have the roof sloping downwards to you .... So you can see if any thing is on the loft ... many have looked and saw nowt, because the cat was at back end out of view.. Can have a gutter covered with 1/2 inch wire so the birds can't peck in it.
pjc Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Best place for your loft is on the line of flight! If you can't manage that then i prefer to have the loft facing as near to south as possible but without it facing the house. If you put the loft along the side of your garden you can still see the front and it stops birds coming out of the loft and flying straight up onto the roof, likewise when landing, depending on how far the loft is from the house they may settle on the house first and lose time on race days.
