blaz Posted November 30, 2009 Author Report Posted November 30, 2009 The race is from morpeth about 75 mile give or take a mile it is open to pentland hills midlothian trappain feds .it has been raced for the last 15 years.it is organized by danderhall R.P.C. this race is in some years very hard test for the birds velocity going down to the 500 600 y,p,m it to strong north wind . last year race was won by a young 1st 2nd and 3rd 6 seconds cover all 3 at 2 .09.31 for just over 75 mile.

blaz Posted December 1, 2009 Author Report Posted December 1, 2009 when you are waiting on birds from this race with a trophy and £500 up for the winner plus pools you tend not to be to bothered about the cold.one partnership picked up over £2000 last year their birds being 4th 12th and 13th .i myself was 6th hoping he does a wee bit better this year.this race for me is a horses for courses.as not all birds will race well when it is so cold wet and windy
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 gd look blaz sounds exciting to me id be waiting for them with a few beers that will see the cold off lol
blaz Posted December 1, 2009 Author Report Posted December 1, 2009 gd look blaz sounds exciting to me id be waiting for them with a few beers that will see the cold off lol better with a wee dram
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 how do you prepare for such a race blaz do you train them far are they on widowhood or sitting eggs ? does it effect them much in the next season or do you have birds in the loft just to race this race only ?
blaz Posted December 1, 2009 Author Report Posted December 1, 2009 my main birds for this do not race much in club or fed they will be set up for race with short training tosses . it will affect all birds different come the real racing season some race well some do not.i will send 5 .3 older birds and 2 yb,s from birds that showed well at the shorter races this year.if any of the birds get in top 10 on result then it will have very little racing next year. this race as i have said not all birds will race in a very cold wet windy day. some years the birds have to come thru falling snow with a cold north wind on their nose.their for needs a bit of gut and determination. also the saturday the 20th a lot of shooting estates have a lot of people shooting on them as it is the saturday before xmus. it won,t be the 1st year i have had birds back shot. i know of some that half their birds back are all pepper shot the other half never seen again.
blaz Posted December 4, 2009 Author Report Posted December 4, 2009 44 lofts have entered 255 pigeons .it looks like it is going to be another good one. come on the MEALY
pigeonpete Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Good luck Blaz, what sort of returns do people get overall, Do they come o.k from training?
