Fair Play Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Willie was the porter at the Renton Station for years Willie had someone through to buy birds when the buyer noticed a bird with one leg what's that bird he asked Wullie told him that you couldn't buy that bird for love nor money The buyer went away with it. During his latter days when confined to bed I used to go round and help to feed the birds if I can remember it was an old RAF pigeon loft 30ft plus. He had an aviary about 30 ft high where he kept hens there was one I fancied and told him, it's yours he said "If you can catch it" Willie McLean who also lives in the village has birds descended from WR Blacks best.
Guest JonesyBhoy Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 My Uncle Mick was telling me a fuuny story the other day in the boozer... When he was starting out with the doos back in the 60s he went to Wullies to buy a few.. and it so happened another Renton rogue was there.. the famous Hugh Young.. Anyway Wullie was asking a little much for a young lad to pay.. So Hugh was pointing to the farthest doo away in the loft saying.. 'Wullie, let me see that one up for the boy'.. Wullie goes to try and catch it and quick as a flash Hugh bends down grabs the two nearest doos and stuffs them in his big coat.. Says to my Uncle.. never mind any of Wullies, c'mon ill give you some.. they get to the bottom of the road and Hugh pulls the two doos out his coat and gives them to my Uncle Mick.. Class.. the gold ole' days..!!!
TREBLE D Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 I will never bye doos from over the border with all the rogues up their, lol
