I have one family of grizzle/whites that are decended from a Grizzle Cock that did well for me from both Thurso and Pau. When I started a friend gave me a pure white hen. She has bred more winners than any bird I know in this area. She was born in 1996 and is still here.

The son of this pair, a pure white, is in the stock loft after winning 4 races and goodness knows how many minor prizes. The best thing about this family is that when they are flying well, everybody knows about it. I have not chosen to keep these whites, they chose themselves.

In regard to the hawks, it is reds and mealies that I can not keep. I have a very good red cock in the stock loft that breeds the occasional red or mealy. They never last long. Two years ago I had nice mealy young bird hen. She had done about half the programme and had two good Fed positions and had won one race. She went the same way as the others. The peregrine had her.
