Hi All, IM off on my first trip to Belguim soon, (Brugge) and was just wondering is there anything I should be sure to buy that is only available over there,  I will be going to a couple of the big flyers and to Leir market, your advice would be most welcome.

How much do birds go for at lier market these days?? And how do you know what your buying? I take it you know under r.p.r.a rules, that 2010 rung belg birds cannot be raced.

like pete said mate you wont be able to race belgium rung 010 birds mate but they might be double runged belgium & gb rung so you can cut the belgium ring off and transfer them into your name loft number you would just be able to go off what the eye likes and your own prefurance of birds you like to keep as they could be from anythink unless you go to an belgium flyers loft so you no what your buying strain and no the birds backgrounds

Yes mate, thanks for reminding me though, I will only be buying bits and pieces from the market, I have my young bird team sorted already this year, so it will have to be something a bit special to make me part eith my hard earned lol.

Have a word with gangster and black w/f they will put you straight, just dont go to any of the pubs they suggest   ;) To many men in them :-)

we are going friday, as regards prices lier market youngsters last yearthey were starting at around 20 euros up but deals could be had if buying a few, medications are cheaper if you know what your after most chemists will help you out,

birds selling around 20 euros on Sunday but the more you want then the better deal,only about 50 sellers and other than baskets there was little else to buy,dont know if it was the ring problem or that it was snowing but it was quiet compared with other years and not a patch on pre euro days

Thought they would have been cheaper than 20 euro, as its the same as the pound now. thought a bargain or 2 might have been there to had :-)

hen people attend would they be able to take a few snaps was thinking about attending next year but would like to see what its like first

one of our party averaged 14 euros a bird for just over 40 birds -mind you he had fellow member tenny acting as his wheeler and dealer

pete thanks for the message, i will be on the liquid painkillers (stella) whilst in belgium

looking forward to it after all these weeks laid up with back pain then when get back its d day with the surgeon to decide if hes going to operate or not so hopefully should be able to plan the way forward after the 27th of this month, young kane has been a lifesaver looking after my birds for me

sorry mate had to pop out but yea its all tax and profit over here and has for lier market it may have been quiet at the moment but wait till dutch show weekend it will be packed has its there buisiest weekend with al the coaches there

  make sure u get the birds vaccinated as they will take em off you at the port if they find no paper work.....the chemists will make up what u need as well, it seems like a buyers market this year price wise,next year maybe different when they have changed rings, too be honest  the wassmunster market on saturdays has some good flyers sellin and these are all flyers im lead to believe.......some on lier buy on  wassmunster and take to lier for  more money ;)

Don't buy birds at Lier market without a vetinary vaccination certificate - they are usually supplied - but make sure you vaccinate again with your own youngsters just in case
