NOPE WOULD HAVE THEM OUT A LOT EARLIER THAN THAT AND HAVE THM HUNGRY .

IF YOU LET THEMOUT AT THAT TIME THEY MAY STAY OUT ALL NIGHT TO START WITH

GIVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF TIME TO  GET THEM BACK IN M8

Should I let the birds have access to the trap all the time so the get used to being in it ?

Do you think lunch time would be ok ?

David

YES THAT GIVES THEM A CHANCE TO LOOK AROUND AND SETTLE DOWN

THEN YOU CAN COAX THEM BACK IN MUCH EASIER  WITH THERE FEED .

BEFORE YOU HAVE THEM OUT GET THEM USED TO YOU CALLING THEM AT FEEDIN TIMES

FOR A FEW DAYS

BY SHOUTING OR RATTLING A TIN WITH FEED IN SO THAT THEY KNOW THE SCORE BEFORE YOU LET THEM OUT.

BEST O LUCK WITH THEM MATE . BE PATIENT AND DONT GET ANXIOUS WITH THEM AS THEY WIL PICK THAT UP FROM YOU .   ;)

I would go for about 9 in the morning tbh

IF HE HAS FEED THEM THE NITE BEFORE JOSH THEY WOULDNT BE HUNGRY BY THEN AND

WOULD PROB STAY OUT MOST O THE DAY TILL FEEDING TIME . MEANS HE WUL HAVE TO HANG ABOUT WATCHIN THEM ALL DAY .

BY LUNCH TIME THEY WILL BE STARTING TO GET A BIT OF A APPETITE ON THEM  AND EASIER CONTROLLED

I dont know if you've any fanciers near you Dave, if you have avoid letting them out the same time as theirs. I've always found 2pm a good time to have them out, they get the heat of the day plus not a lot of other pigeons about out at that time.

Yes let them out a couple of days after you get them. Dont chase them out of the loft, let them come out under their own steam.

Dont forget to wing stamp them before you let them out for the first time.

I have one fancier 3 miles north of me and one 2 miles south of me so not to near to me Tony ! I was going to let them out a couple of days after getting them but I'm probably going to leave them a couple of days longer. Whats a wing stamp ?

You stamp your phone number on the pigeons primary flights in case it should go into someone else’s loft.

This might sound simple but its very important, make sure they know how to get through the trap.

Place them through it by hand 5 or 6 times more if you have the time and patience, then at least they know how to get in.

time wise its important they dont stay out too long the first few times imo, start as you mean to go on make sure your in control of them.

Not too early in the morning as they will be full of energy and will do what they want, let them out before their normal feed time ie. when they are hungry this should give you better control if you lose them at this stage you may never get some of them back.

I agree with the last post, may sound odd but before you let any pigeon out for the first time, first make sure the bird knows how to get back in.

Before you think about letting them out, give them time to get used to their now loft, their daily routine, you and your voice. When they are responding well and doing what you want, then you can let them out. Choose your day well, sunny, no strong winds. Early morning is usually the quietest time,  least likely to be scared by something then, and take off in a panic. You basically want them to potter about outside for a day or so, to help them get a fix on their home surroundings. And be there with them all the time that they are out.

Enjoy your birds.

the longer you keep them in dave, the stronger on the wing they,ll be,, i would  let them out asap,, providing, theve eaten in the loft for a couple of evenings , they will soon go back to where they got their last feed,,[better if they can see out from within  the loft via cage or sputnick,in this couple of days],,, let them out peckish,,,, with a little seed for them to pick at,,  [try and get them as young as poss]  even put a  bath  out for them,, they usually love a bath , once in the bath, they will sit around and see around,, then hopefully they will go back in for their feed ,, good luck, hope all goes well :)
