FoxesFan4Ever Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 Hi all, I am thinking of getting a microscope to keep an eye on things and catching any new problems as early as possible. However with so many models out there I wonder if someone can recommend a good make. I want to be sure I can get enough magnification but I don't want to be paying over the odds for unneeded features. As ever, thanks for all the help.
ch pied Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 the SP14 from brunell microscopes , ian't a bad starter one , will do most of the basic stuff.

Guest Owen Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 One of the best microscopes about is the Bresser sold by Aldi and Lidl. If you want to look at a microscop you will need to check that it has the following. x10 eyepiece, x4,x10 and x40 object lenses (these are ones in a cluster near the stage), a built in light and a mechanical stage. Some microscopes have four object lenses, the extra one being an oil emersion lens. Unless you know how to use stain and emersion oil this lens will never get to be used. I have not found that a binocular microscope is any real benefit over a monocular one. I have seen Bresser microscopes on e-bay.
