Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 if i was just starting i would just concentrate on the youngsters and not bother with the hasle of breaking pigeons and trying to race them just keep the youngsters and learn how to look after them before complecateing matters

Guest bigda Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 15 might be about what you need just now mate no more, just the young birds change the water 2 a day fresh feed 2 times a day clean out your loft every day or every second day get your self a wee fold up seat sit in way your birds every day calm them down get your birds jaged from some members near you for pmv make sure your loft is dry and you will be fine

hazza84 Posted March 14, 2010 Author Report Posted March 14, 2010 thanx all. I was thinking getting rid of the others and putting everything into my ybs!! They are from a really good mate so ive got the help there from him but as im just starting its good to hear others views!! Sound advice recieved i think thanx bigda really explained well and they have all been jabed for PMV for me before he let me have them
Novice Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 My reading of the initial post suggests they are all hens. I think they will be difficult to break. I would concentrate on the youngsters personally.

hazza84 Posted March 14, 2010 Author Report Posted March 14, 2010 they are all hens yes!!!! I just think i might be making the sport harder for me to get into with them and young birds to!!!!
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 i think you would be best to put all your effort in to training and racing a young bird team for this season and learn how to look after them find out what makes them tick ect with out trying to break hens which will not be paired or on eggs and could well take your young bird team away and teach them bad habbits
robbiedoo. Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 Novice if he is thinking of getting rid of them he would be aswell breaking them .. If they dont stay he has not lost anything anyway :) good advice aswell take a round of youngeens of them then try to settle them like stb says if they dont settle you aint lost anything if they do settle all the better for you . good luck in which ever you decide to do .
Novice Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 Novice if he is thinking of getting rid of them he would be aswell breaking them .. If they dont stay he has not lost anything anyway :) They may well be a complete nuiscance to the guy he had them from. Personally I would never have given that number of adult pigeons to a new starter because I would be letting myself in for hassle.
Guest HEATHLOFTS Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 trust me m8 its better to stick with th ey/bs when i started i got as many pigeons as i could most were crap i had a lot of trouble breaking them and mine had old habits as well :-/ but with t/bs your starting fresh
wilkins Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 if i was just starting i would just concentrate on the youngsters and not bother with the hasle of breaking pigeons and trying to race them just keep the youngsters and learn how to look after them before complecateing matters same here , no prisoners for me since july last year (not of my choice) but its the best thing i have done for room and time to many break pigeons or breed from untried stock the 5 of winners i would would be very low
