alec guinness Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 noticed in this weeks bhw obituries page that old friend george cambell of moodiesburn had passed away,i had not seen george for years but he could fly the doos at all distances and had a great record at the nationals first scoring 10th open nantes 1934 as a boy,my first trip to blackpool was with george and as a young boy it was an eye opener as george knew all these great fanciers that i was reading about in the weeklies and gazette, georges good blue pied cock homed from rennes after 10pm and george had to pay the young lads a few quid to stop playing football as the bird would not land,he also had a good winning hen with only one leg which had been lost in the sliding door as a youngster, this did not stop the hen flying the national!!!!!! great memories of a great fancier george cambell. :) :)

Saying this ones ok, iam no sure about that one bla bla bla. Then he got his eye on this yearling blue hen in the loft and asked about it i said it had scored at worcester this year in the fed but it being a yearling i wisnae considering it .He said to me i would send it its in great order. So after he went away i had a think about what he said and deceided to alter my pool sheet and send it and by the way this pigeon had no preparation for the race. It turned out to be a hard race the doos were up in a north west wind and i timed the ylg blue hen at five to ten on the day to win 39th west section 231st open and that was when there was 7,500 doos at Rennes. So i would say that George Cambell Knew the doos ok.
