greenlands Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 does anyone know were to get wicker basket covers from the ones that stop all the mess getting in the car Sawing machine and a couple of old curtains. I use nestbox grills with news paper underneath and put an old towel over the top but remember to let a bit of air into them,a basket with a dozen or so birds in create heat. Lindsay

Dodgy Trapper Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 This is a good tip, my mate went to Wickes the diy shop. And in there they sold sand bags ( without the sand ). The stitching can be picked easy enough and there you have the new lining for your basket. You may need to used more then one. They cost about 80p each. He got some string the same colour as the sacking and sowed the sacking to the basket. I think he used a bit of glue aswell, they really looked good. He put the sacking over the original old worn sacking.
REDCHEQHEN Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 One of our club members used an old sheet cut down with elastic threaded through (not too tightly) that slips over the base of his baskets and up the sides it would also do for widowhood cocks and hens to stop them from 'seeing' each other
