john@formula 1 lofts Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 I am taking a extra lot to our sale on Friday. this is a special bred hen but due to having lots of spare hens have decided to let this one go. The sire is the RR cock he most be one of the best sons of Rolls Royce RR cock has bred 1st sec 1st open BICC Tours national. another one from RR has been 1st Lessay 2nd Niort & 3rd Messac as a yearling flying into Lancashire. RR is also g.sire to two birds which have won the following as y/b's 1st 253 birds, 1st 100 birds, 1st 400+birds 1st 2,176 birds 5th 344 birds 11th 382 birds. 1st 382 birds 1st 1,880 birds 2nd 400+ birds 2nd 2,176 beat by loft mate also RR bloodlines + many other good club and fed pigeons. The dam of this hen is GB05B19640 Ron Williamson What a pigeon 640 has bred 1st open NFC and 8th open BICC whilst her nestmate 641 has bred 1st BICC hens national 2nd open yearling national and 3rd open BICC Tours. both of these hens has also bred good club and fed birds. So sire has bred 1st national dam has bred 1st national nestmate to the dam has bred 1st national (Hens) Plus many big winner on both sides big NIPA winners and big national winners all over the paper work of these two. It will be interesting how much this bird makes i think it will be in the bottom 5 priced birds as it is a cross. What do you think ????? John
Tony C Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 If I liked what I see and it fell within my budget I'd have no problems putting my hand up for it.
Guest chrisss Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 i think that i have very little money but if you want to swap for a kidney please feel free to come around with the bird [and a scapel ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D] i do not think that a bird been a cross would matter if it was good
Guest strapper Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 is there really a pedigree pigeon about? they have been crossed with other strains in many years gone by. even if now kept with its own strain it started off as cross somewhere down the line.
OLDYELLOW Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 only two types of pigeons good or bad and from my experiance i always find that a first out cross if successfull can breed some very good birds the fanciers on the continent buy good birds they never buy strains thats why there the strain makers they keep the hybrid vigour by constantly out crossing and improving there birds
stantheman Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 John there is no reason at all not to buy a so called cross, my reasons being as follows 1. it will add hybrid vigour to your birds 2. there is no such thing as a pure bred 3.its carrying the genes of winners 4.if the bird fits in with my ideas of conformation type and its parents ancestors have performed at the distance i want then its a no brainer i would buy it too much emphasis on bits of paper instead of looking at the bigger picture my best ever channel pigeon was a busschaert x stragg say no more
peterpau Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 John what cross. Quality, breeding me thinks, I'd offer £50 without seeing it. You're gonna get more though. Best o' luck.
gangster Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 my opinion is john with most knowing your results will be astute enough to know that it has been bred from by you and if its good enough for you then someones going to get a good bird......and i think you will be proved wrong id say in top 5 price wise........and if good enough then who cares about its pedigree coz they dont fly.......
Taylorsloft Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Last time I bought a cross somebody nailed me to it
