pigeonpete Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 there could be a reason for that member being the worst flyer in the club i would not judge anyone for there flying capabilities he could have the best birds money can buy so i would not condem anyone birds for that it might be that he or she doesnt have the time or maybe they have the wrong setup e.t.c. so if i liked what i see i would buy it so i would say yes i have paid decent money for birds, and im last most weeks in club, but i have bred birds to win for others, 3 birds in last 2 seasons i know of :-) so i know it aint my birds, its the idiot flying them :-) but will change all that 2010 :-)
shweet Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 My mate had a pigeon that looked like a streeter, horrible greedy thing. I would have put it in the bin but it was his first pigeon back most of the time in young bird racing. I think it must of been the fact that it loved food that bought it home. Greedy thing ate like it had never been fed at every feed.
Guest puresoontjen Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 2/5 the rest means nothing thats the only thing i would go on, i would have to hold the bird to make sure it feels right in the hand, and noing the breeder well and others thats brought from him/her. some will sell there grandmother for a few pounds, thats not the way for me they must be well none to others as well as to my self.only my thoughts

dwh Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Respect and trust for the breeder is my number 1,seek his advice on the birds there is alot of good looking nowts out there. precislely a pedigree is only as good as the man that writes it
catchthepigeon Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 2 & 3 the the pigeon and the transfere without the transfere the pigeon is not your property who ever sold you it could come take it back at any time the breeder means nothing it could be any numpty with alot of cash buying good birds
catchthepigeon Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 1st the breeder, as he/she should be a top fancier who can be trusted. 2nd the pedigree, as the performance of the bird and/or its parents and g/prarents is vital. 3rd the breed, it s only important as to what you are wanting ie sprint / distance and you decide this long before looking for a bird. 4th the pigeon, even the most visually appealing birds can be from rubbish so handling and looks are secondary to the blood line. 5th the transfer, if you plan to race the bird then it is required but for breeding its not that essential. transferes very important its proof of ownership
Guest WINGS 04 Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE PIGEON YOU ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT HOME WITH YOU
budgie Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE PIGEON YOU ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT HOME WITH YOU Joseph Is right and dont forget the 98% rule and keep clear aged Stock Birds. All the Best Robert 2010.
Guest strapper Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Joseph Is right and dont forget the 98% Shi-te rule and keep clear aged Stock Birds. All the Best Robert 2010. what age would you connsider aged stock birds?
dwh Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 what age would you connsider aged stock birds? that must depend on the pigeon surely but makes you wonder why louella sells alot of older stok birds
bullcock Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Sorry totally disagree with your choices, the most important is the pigeon it's self, like breeds like! As for top fanciers to buy from, look to whether or not they are breeding good birds- winners for other fanciers Example; I have sent youngsters back because they have been absolute rubbish on arrival, this happened to be from one of the top fanciers with 3 first nationals under their belt. I have also sent birds back to studs as well. It all depends on what your expectations are. As for pedigree it's horses for courses, but make sure what they are advertising is what you are getting. so if the bird is good and healthy you are happy well every one has them, but it doesn't mean it will be good for racing or breeding.
Guest Owen Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 For me it is only the performance of the pigeon and the competition it has competed in. What else is there?

ohiogsp Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 I picked breed because you can't race a fantail???
Guest gladdo Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 the pigeon is 100 % most important ...no point in transfering it if its no good !!!!! ha ha ha mikey
