Guest numpty01 Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 Started with 34, lost 6 in one hit, had one of those back and then lost another 1 so now 28 to play with. This bunch are kit chasers thats for sure! Everything that comes through they are off with it for hours on end. Had 3 short tosses so far which have all gone to plan. well they certanly fly well but to much energy
superstar Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 well they certanly fly well but to much energy Cant feed them any less than I am chris thats for sure and not a grain of maize on them!

Fair Play Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 Started with 50 opened up for the first time and was 26 short, 7 have made their way back - where are the others all have telephone number rings,so who knows where they go. Lost one last year, away for three months came back and was the best bird to the loft as a yearling flew her out to Leicester
grizzal Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 started with 30 so far 3 short, but haven;t started training yet .

thomasd Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 Had 30 yb's toss them 3 times at 2 miles no problem today the weather was great toss them 5 miles lost 17 im not a happy man just started the sport last year im not happy more than half of my team gone and i forgot 4 yb's got out pass me in the loft that 2 top flyer bread for me for stock got out and they r gone too talk about a bad day.
Guest Owen Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 Losses seem to go with the territory these days. A lot of it must be down to the BOP. Why can't someone start an organisation to try to deal with this menace? I am sure that every pigeon fancier would suport it. Would'nt they?
thomasd Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 ive been out the back for 7 hours nothing its breaking my heart all i can do is hope for the best if these losses keep happing to me im packing it in.
Guest spin cycle Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 only training 12 ( out to 25 miles so far)...with 6 more in aviary. i suspect i'm going to get wiped out racing....but with only 12 i'm more inclined to 'bung them in a basket' and take them wherever i'm going. so i'm trying this as an experiment. we all beat ourselves up on yb losses.....but perhaps it is just one of those things. for instance 1 loft races have ,in theory, the best birds, best management, best training etc....but still loose 2/3 typically.....if they can't do it what chance do we have ?
whiteflighted Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 i have 30 of 30 but my father in law breeds about 80 end up with about 20 to race i think it to do with over crowding
Ronnie Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 started with 38 down to 29 now lost6 on first trainer yesterday other three went of shed roof weeks ago. Trained again today and look a bit light but not checked em till i get em in later.
edwards Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 we found it great mate when we were training young on our line of flight we started at a half mile till they were leaving with out a bother may sound short but you woundn belive how thick they can be from that distance but after 5 times they got it then we edged them out half mile more and so on but befor we moved them they had to leave the training point without circuling around this continued up to the 30 mile marker a long process mate doing it but the results were shocking from a training point of view we started with 60 and up to the first race we had 58 mate our training before hand was first toss 5 mile and we could be waiting up to 5 hours for the last bird to make it home and loss 3or 4 in that one toss and anything up to 18 over all . plus you learn a lot about there line of flight home and what they face for the first ten mile what i mean by that is it hawks or was it me being stupid and i have to say 70 percent me mate.
Guest tom123 Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 youngsters are now at severn bridge 14 mle and coming well they will be there now everyday now until the first race havent lost any since the first toss so fingers crossed they should be ok come racing

Tony C Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Put 42 over 36 still here BUT training awaits.
rasbull Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 I bred 64 and split them into 3 teams. The 1st team trained 13 times and today completed a 40 miles (road) 35 miles (line of flight) trainer from the severn bridge back into mid wales. Possibly dropped my first pigeon in todays toss. Started training the first team with 15 birds and currently have 14! I have a second team of 14 which have had one toss from 6 miles to date. The final team are just starting to fly around the loft and still a few in the nests.
Guest slugmonkey Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 started with 106 and am down to 98 although not training yet, we have a guy who started with 200 + he has them out over 100 miles already he moved to the middle this year and has given up 19 miles of overfly I am really looking forward to pounding him this year hopefully this will end his large team strategy !!!
