YB Training and Racing Program

Recommended Posts

I have noticed an increase in topics and posts recently regarding the number of people who seem to be training later, during the month of July and early August. In view of this do members thing that their Young Bird Race Program starts to early, and do they think we should be aiming to start racing early August and finish a little later. Just a thought :-/

I think Bob, racing programs need reviewing slightly, As yes years ago, before darkness, ybs past end of august would not race due to moulting heavily. And as for the weather, well its been better in april and sept last 2/3 years, and have never know as many holdovers as last 2 years! :-) think we could race till end of september, as its along long winter :-) alot of people have 2 teams ( not me ) If alonger race program, people may not be so inclined to jump/rush their birds so quickly, like me :-)

I THINK WE START RACING A MONTH TO EARLY, OUR FIRST OLD BIRD RACE IS 2ND WEEK OF APRIL (TO COLD) AND OUR 1ST YOUNGBIRD RACE IS 1ST WEEK OF JULY, THE WEATHER IN EUROPE IS CHANGING AND IT USUALLY IS GOOD INTO OCTOBER SO WHY NOT MOVE RACING TO A MONTH LATER AND SEE HOW IT GOES.

Well my view is racing in Great Britain is for everyone and not just those who practice the the Belgian/Dutch systems of early breeding, false moulting patterns and early racing. JMO
