20rings every year haven,t raced yb for 4or 5 years now can,t bear to lose them as babys

just train up not very often but just let them mature with out stress not bad as yearlings ok

one or two go down but i choose there races very carefully and the weather before i send them .

this year i sent as far as newbury 399 miles i think if a birds a good 1 it will be a good 1 raced as a y/b or not

did similar last year and have a mix left this year

ive gone to more distance minded birds the last couple of years so will have to see how they go

looking at it i think i will breed what i want for old birds in the summer and leave them natral and train them and keep 20 on darkness to race the programe just to compete as the yb losses are so many know it seems a better idea to look after a team of ybs and train them yea ull loose some but ull have a nice team of yearlings stress free as ybs looking the part as they wont have the darkness

started 47 + 6 imports ended up with 27 yb loses in our area over last 5yrs have been terrible not just us but having said that we lost a few training 2nd toss with ybs clashed with up north combine transporter yb training

50 youngsters started training, 40 made it to the first race. 1/2 stopped early (between 70 and 120 miles) due to moult (didn't use darkness this year) and keeping cocks back for next year. The rest through to 200 miles. 35 left at the end of the season. 3 of the 5 lost were at the last race!
