So in reality it has to be late mated Natural. Cocks will win the easier ones, and hens the worthwhile ones- the ones remembered and really matter as against just 'Matter'.

Well Roly I'm not convinced this is because hens are better, (though I can see where you're coming from anq you may well be right) but i believe there are far more hens set to 550+. Not sure if there is a facility to try and check this anywhere??
thunderboult Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 i would like to only compete in the channel races next year can you distance people help me out with what system i should use and what system you use over the channel please i.e widowhood natural etc yours in sport shalis lofts hi shalis , we always start the season on roundabout, i've tried pairing up when we're over the channel(after 4/5 races), roundabout straight through and last year pairing for the last long races . the season when i paired em up as they got over the channel was terrible, the birds went from winning and having 3,4 or 5 turn up together to barely getting a bird in the result, when i've left them roundabout all season they've flown well even at the end of the season, last year the longest races were over 600 mls and i wanted to give them that bit more motivation to get home. it worked out ok with 3 out 3 back from tarbes and 2 out of 3 from bergerac. so this year i'm going to go the same way .

However, yes one can't look at the results and see what % are actual regards Sexes always. Yes often can too on some result pages.... But again only sexes shown means that what % widower and natural's are is hardly, if ever shown. So if the later one may well be right in thinking that 'Natural' out wiegh the widower's. Writes are imied also in that aspects, but often do state sex and / or system.

Last year I had three old cocks from my old loft they had two 10 mile training tosses and then in to racing every week. Each week they would come back from my old loft, of these three I sent two to Palamos 751 mile and got 1.

Assume you'll be trying again this year, hopefully it will be my first attempt but I'm not confident I have the quality in the race loft yet to do it! But getting back to training, my widowers had two 20/25 mile tosses and went in to their first race 123 miles after being kept in the loft september to april (because of percy), now I would not reccomend if you are in to sprint, but if you are happy to get ypur birds into form end of may to Mid June then I don't think widowers need training but I will train any direction , in my opinion your not teaching your birds the way home just getting them fit.

The older members of the forum will know the discussions and selections I made in the past looking at eyes. Well this pigeon is fantastic, if you have the money and want a stone wall breeder of distance pigeons buy him!!
