I distinfect my drinkers about once a week with a viricidal distinfectant. And I wipe the widowhood boxes out daily with a sponge soaked distinfectant. The one thing that gets up my nose is the oblong shaped pots. The round ones are great for cleaning but the oblong ones are a pain in the neck. It is dificult to get into the corners.

The one place I do not clean is the Young Bird Floor. I keep that in deep litter because I want them to peck around in the dry droppings to build up their imunity to the sorts of things that lead to YBS. Well that's my opinion any way.

Regarding the algae build up. I think that's fine in running water but drinkers and feeder should be properly cleaned, in my view.

we have 2 sets of drinkers,, one set is in the lofts the other is in a bucket of bleach and water ,, so everyday they get changed,, we swill the bleach ones then add to the loft,, the one from the loft goes to the bottom of the bucket full of bleach,,

We buy cheap bleach and add 4 litres of bleach to 20 litres of water approx..

best of luck
