budgie Posted May 6, 2008 Author Report Posted May 6, 2008 In the End we finished up with all home. Two to come on Sat night. One arrived on Sunday at 12.30pm and the other on Monday at 1.00pm .Both have been hawked and totally flown out but well see how they pick up mid-week.Other members of our club have lost between 5 and 11 pigeons each and at this distance it just should not happen. :-/ :-/ :-/ If this trend continues they will have no pigeons left by Cheltenham. :(

Guest Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 You must have thought you were going to get a race when you sent 12 or else why send them ? was not convinced at all,but weather forcasts are not always accurate, so decided i would take the chance and send the twelve, and i was not the only one in my club who was thinking along the same lines , and some sent just a few in case they got a race
budgie Posted May 6, 2008 Author Report Posted May 6, 2008 For what its worth our own Club Newmains sent 999 birds the first pigeon is taking 1hr 44 mins and the 246th pigeon is taking 4hrs 45 mins with a velocity of 602 which is only 25% of them home at a 99mile toss in 3hours.As Alf has already quoted West Coast Racing is suicide or words to that effect. :( >
frank-123 Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 i think its a bit better over in the east but even thats getting worse sent 25 cocks to the midweek club race from kelso 12 back in 35 mins then nothing for 4 hours i still had ten to come this morning ended up with 8 worn out birds two of which had been had by the hawks one punctured the other the back ripped still two to come

Budgie ;)
Lennut Tar Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 sorry forgot the 1 hr ---- then 35 mins ;D ;D ;D Don't worry about it ;) its only a pigeon race ???????? & what's an hour here or there :) in the end, as they say. PS, It would have been quite interesting to study some of those EC's, by some of the reports here. Enjoy.

jimmy white Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 looking at pigeon racing as a whole nawadays , i have noticed that, when years ago, you either had them all , or most in ,say half an hour with birds dropping regular , i see a trend of racing now, no matter what route or what organization , most races the winners do their expected time , theres a flurry of a few birds ,, then gaps then another flurry of drops then bigger gaps etc , very seldom get many birds the next day, i just wonder whats so different from years ago ??
