Hi all wonder if anyone can give advice on pairing up breeding when theres a full moon.

I recently read that if you paired up on a full moon the young when hatched to then see the next full moon turned out to be realy good youngsters. If anyone can advise me on this method.

only reason i can see for pairing up on full moon is that parents will keep feeding the young in the night dont belive in all that if u breed at certain times of the moon u get pigeons to suit different races heard or read it somewhere couldent be true hope this helps

this subject came up for me 20 odd years ago,it was suppose to work then,,but,as time progressed,differant methods and feeding was updated,so,suppose there could be some trueth in it as then going back to nature,,,,,if you try,then you can decide for yourself,,,,just keep records of what you do and in a few years time,,,,you decide then !!!!

     sorry i cant help more !!!

Another theory that some believe in have tried it but did not find any significant difference :)

speedbird, try it. I was very sceptical when I first heard it. I would be interested to find out your thoughts if you do try it. There are always those that scoff, but if we understood everything that makes the birds tick you wouldn't have a forum this size.

Reading a book about 'feeding to win' which has a chapter on pairing by the moon.

No I don't see the connection between feed and the moon either.  :)

What the 'Moon theory' says and book's author Andre Christiaens findings from his 1988 experiment:-

(1) 'New moon' youngsters (win beauty contests only) - Lost 8 out of 11 bred during this 6/9 day period;

(2) '1st quarter' (give up easily) - Lost 7 out of 16 bred during this 6/8 day period.

(3)'Full moon'  (simply the best) - bred 6 youngsters, 3 of which won prizes.

(4) 'Last quarter' (all round flyers) - Lost 5 out of 12, 3 performed well, 4 were useless.

;D no comment  ;D
