Guest dodgydaz Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 just got back from taking my old birds training this morning, only to find 3 of them home out of 13, only took them 46 miles, last time i took them 25 miles,. my first race is next week at 90 miles, lets hope i get a few more back before then
Guest kev d Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 lots of racing on today mate probably got caught up in a racing kit if there half decent they will be back , or may be a hawk gone in to them good luck .
PIGEON_MAN Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 How many times have you had them out before, personally would never dream of taken mine 46 miles.
cowman Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 not being funny but why take your birds training when there is races all over the area your birds probily clashed and followed the drag i never train on a sat and avoid wednesdays too for midweek racing .
Guest IB Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 You might be taking a risk going down the road on a Saturday. Did you check to see what race liberations might affect your training? Green birds could be dragged miles off-course. Hope that they work back OK.
Guest dodgydaz Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 been 4 times between 15 and 25 miles, this was to be the last 1 before next week as only time could have taken them, its the same training as most of them had as young before racing
Guest Davy Fleming Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Hope you get them mate but going that distance and also on a SATURDAY is really suicidal
Guest lenwadebob Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Hope you get them mate but going that distance and also on a SATURDAY is really suicidal Have to agree, especially with yearlings that tend to be a bit hot headed and will chase after anything. Hope you get them.
pigeon princess Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 how come you cant train that far can someone explain thanks pp
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 have to agree silly training them on a sat
Guest mick bowler Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Thread should be titled "disaster waiting to happen". Hope you get them back.
Guest Davy Fleming Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Would only be wanting to train this distance for the last 3 or 4 races not the now
chaz Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 If you have to train on a saturday early morning or late afternoon , mine were away at 7am today and all shut up by 7.30 hope you get them all , those that come will have a bit more education for the season
Guest Davy Fleming Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 dodgydaz, Well you certainly live up to that tag mate. All joking aside we've had our bit of banter . I think we should be really trying to educate him rather than hammer him and give him a bit of advice as to the best thing to do here. Certainly a big mistake but he will learn from all the good guys on here who will help him now, isn't that right everyone ????????
greenlands Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 My old man would have bounced me off every wall in the house training on race days, same letting youngens out and on Sunday morning no youngens out early incase there's any strays making their way back home. Sorry about your losses. Hope they turn in for you mate,it leaves a nasty taste in your mouth for a while. Lindsay
Guest dodgydaz Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 clearly a big mistake, but certainly sorted the birds out a week early, cos for the ones that havnt come, just means that next week when racing they might hav only come because of the drag of the other racers, and not of using there own brain
Guest frank dooman Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 lesson learned but look on the bright side some will use there heads and get back and they might just have learned the hard way aswell but they will be better birds for it
holmsidelofts Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 just got back from taking my old birds training this morning, only to find 3 of them home out of 13, only took them 46 miles, last time i took them 25 miles,. my first race is next week at 90 miles, lets hope i get a few more back before then As others said not the thing to do on race day, lots of birds about, good luck hope you get them all. jas

peterpau Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Is it me. Cant help but wonder why so many push 'em too far too soon and end up with nothing to race
