Guest WINGS 04 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 ONE OUT THE BASKET FROM THE PARK LESS THAN 1 MILE THEN ON TO 10 MILES TILL THEY ARE HOME BEFOR THE CAR THEN MOVE THEM
ALF Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 1st toss most years for the young birds is carluke(maybe 6 or 7 mls) but i have took them a few times to carnwath 1st toss about 17 or 18 mls roughly) and just had the same results...ALL HOME...so dont think it really matters as long as they have been touring well they'll be fine
ALF Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 forgot to add i let them go in the park a couple of times to get them used to coming out the basket (less than 100 yds from the loft)
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 will anyone train in fog as i have done last year and good birds came through this is just asking for trouble, you were lucky, but keep this up and you will surely regret it
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 i think young birds should be treated with respect and remember they are training, could you elaborate a bit on what you mean by respect and they are training fifer ?
Guest Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Reckon on losing even the best of YBs if you don't look after them in training, so no fog for me thanks. Bad experience thro inexperience my 1st year, training (not racing) YBs at Berwick approx 70 miles, with 6 YBs single up. Ignored bad visibility all way down because forecast said it would clear; despite deteriorating visibility at Berwick and the 1st one up not clearing, I still put them all up, (3 still in box when haar started rolling in off North sea) and got just 1 home ... 3 1/2 hours later. 2 of those losses were gift birds from Jim Cameron, a nestpair from two birds that had scored for him in the SNFC the previous year. Like I said, reckon on losing even the best if you don't look after them in training ....
