Guest spin cycle
just been asked by a clubmate how prizes will work out now two rubbers can go into one thimble. presumably ets can time 2(or more ) on same velocity.so if two pigeons are on 1500ypm and the next two on 1400ypm , how will the result work ? i just assumed the first two would be first and the next two third (or would they be second )? pjc
first 2 would be equal 1st and second 2 will be equal 3rd!
Guest IB
Surely the Rule must state how this is to be decided? Otherwise its open to individual club / fed interpretation? If any number of birds can win the same position, in the absence of a Rule saying how it was to be decided, personally I'd go for equal 1st and equal 2nd because you can't tell which bird was 1st into the clock. And the next position to be awarded would be 3rd.
johno
how would it be possible for the same bird to take two positions? agree with pjc. if bird was allowed two positions would same bird be allowed two bites at the pools? i dont think so. two rubbers mean equal positon in same thimble. ets one pigeon is always registered faster than the other by a split second. clock with thimble registers time the rubbers were put through the clock system. ets records time of arrival of bird/birds. two different things. NANCYVIEWLOFTS
in most other races like horse racing and greyhound racing if 2 go over the line together its called a dead heat and the next one over the line takes third
pjc
if you look at any horse races, motor races, athletics etc the results will show equal 1st then the next position is third! Phil
THE FIFER
When we were allowed to time in 2 birds in one thimble thats how i always seen a result done next bird gets 3rd position [/quotwo two rubbers in the one thimble i would say the one in the bottom is first,
Guest IB
two rubbers in the one thimble i would say the one in the bottom is first, Its not exactly a flat rubber when it comes off the bird's leg, its more like a liitle ball when it goes into the thimble, so quite possible when thimble is opened and turned upside down, that two little balls fall together into the clock committee member's palm. If it was always possible to tell exactly which rubber went into the thimble first, then wouldn't the correct result be 1st pigeon IN THE THIMBLE = 1st place, and 2nd pigeon = 2nd place? If both birds take same position (1st) then 2nd place is still to be won. 1st and 2nd usually command different prize money, so which bird wins 2nd place prize money - or are 2 x 1st prizes awarded? , and if one of the 1st pigeons wins 2nd prize, then it couldn't have taken a 'dead heat' 1st position. What does the relevant RPRA rule say about how positions, prizes, pools are to be awarded?
Roland
One with the most pool money / or best for averages is higher placed lol. Forget the two rubbers in a thimble, piddling about may well cost you first place while you are getting secod rubber into clock ... or if club mate has an et, the first 10 places! PIGEON_MAN
Ive seen many races lost by people timing two rubbers in the same thimble,on a very fast race i would,nt even bother trying to get two rubbers in the same thimble the time lost trying to catch the second bird could lose you the race.
