is it me or are we starting to get more and more guys on site who you never hear about until they want to sell birds?[i have no problem with guys selling birds nothing to do with me,but with the "wins" some of these guys get you would think they would pass on some of their wisdom to us mere mortals]they turn up [seems to me] flogging birds and then you never hear from them again [until next time]

put up a thread recenlly saying something of the same thing but was more on the lines of pll useing this site as a advertiseing agency to sell birds all you have to do is look back through certain members posts they dont put any views forward on any subject or try to help members onthe forum

Its that time of year where pple weed out the lofts. Then sell on to unsuspecting newbie(like meself).

Biggest lesson i learnt in this sport was dont believe all you hear. And only part with your money if you have thought long and hard.A person may be closing his stock loft down but surely he wouldnt part with the best breeders in his setup because he has a few unproven youngsters of it.

as an add on to my old post, what is giving me the real "jerk off" is that there is an auction on this site [number2] for a very sick little girl, and as normal its the same old "hearts of gold" who are auctioning birds, and frankly the same guys buying, where are all of the "big boys" who log in and then log out again?,where are all of these big flyers with their 20 wins a year? do you want to buys some latebreds going cheap, bargains ,much cheapness!!!!!,but if it comes to an auction for a good cause, where are they [back home counting their money]apart from one!!!!

well chrisss uoy echo my exact thoughts i have watched looked and noted the peaple coming  selling and apart from one or two have taken if they can given nothing not even advice but have then sought help its sadding that a worthy cause is as you say supported by us normal guys not the sellers big winners  if    alot of money gone through this sight in last two weeks but less to good causes you can stop the flow dont buy

Maybe in the case of the sale for Phoebe it would be worth advertising elsewhere, maybe even the fancy press. I myself have already offered one of my stock birds for another charity sale, a bird that cost me hundreds of pounds and i know the birds are being advertised in the press otherwise would not of offered him, and would also be quite happy to make a donation to this cause (Phoebe).

Also be very happy to make a donation to PB regarding my sale, which is a total clearance sale, for health reasons, none retained and no rubbish to get rid off. anyone who have received the list will see i have quality birds.

word of truth and wisdom.

Especially them Names... the ones that buy in / boughgt in and say how well they are doing... and off load them to retrieve their money when proven no good... Fact again. What's their' favourite line 'Well I've spent an absolute fortune on getting these, birds, only the best you know that... you wouldn't believe how much I spent (I would) so just want to get a little of me outlay back ... ' etc.

the bigger the name the more to watch out, FACT!

Most swap with other big names, and keep them close to their chest. One Midland so called great flys another strain altogether from what he sells... Infact flies the ones he buys in in season - well did till told to sling his hook for not mentioning the fellow where he actually gets the flyers from - and still sell his 'OLD strain name' Indeed they don't fly, haven't for yonks, but fetch a good price. The beat goes on and is endless.

and that is the problem in a nutshell, these guys cannot be named for legal reasons, yet if you see their ads in the press[and on sites]you look at the birds thinking "thats a good price"and you buy some, expecting that they are the same birds as they fly, people are been conned and naff all is been done about it,buyer beware, is all fine and good, but if you are starting up,and see what you think are good birds at a good price, you buy, only after time do you see through the bs,by that time a lot of guys have not set the world on fire with these wonder birds they have brought, they sell up,so the same birds "do the rounds"

Know of a teenager that started up and bought big of a world renowned flyer. Everyone but everyone spouts about how great a flyer he is / was.  Everyone but everyone also said 'Never buy oat off him....'

Well the secretary on the lad's dad's beckoning spent the day there at the extremely good and well maintained lofts in great lawned settings and bought a few quiddies of birds. A few late breds, but mainly stock OFF the proven- or so called.

the secretary was a good friend of him, so he also gave him so, as did one or two others. 1984 it was.

Any way he started winning few , and in 87 flew very well. Tried to give all the 'Name Birds' away to any one that would have them. None did! Yes the freebie's to help him start did the damage with good free advice. Which unlike most newcomers he took!

Got laid low once and all by another bird though, and then Married her... Never flew again.

pleas dont be two quick two jugde people when we dont no what charties thay could be invold in ie money out there bank every month to different charities giving pigones to charty auctions every year.

Just because they dont comment in every topic doesnt make them bad people and when they do anwser any topics on the thread people shoot them down.

Normally they are the people who regard this form as there own and dont take kindley to new comers.

This is a open form and the best so lets all keep it that way cheers TAM all the best.......

Not looking to offened anyone or looking for any back lash :)

i am trying not to judge any one here,i have no idea what birds go to where for different charities, iam sure that they [big or small sellers] get asked a lot,my whole point is/was that you get a lot of people roll up giving a list of wins that look like the list of the missing from the somme, selling their birds ,you never see them before, and you never see them again, until they want to shift some more, and i would think it is the same for other sites  as well [with the same people]there a list of "drifters"not one of which has donated a bird to the sale, its their birds/their choice, this is just my view, but all they do is take [a free ad]about time they threw a little back for a very good cause

This is not always the case, I will be forced to sell a lot of my stock pairs very shortly, some have bred 3 or 4 Fed winners and all have bred club winners, not only for me but others also. There is a very good reason for selling them and not personal gain either! When these birds come up for sale I hope everyone doesnt think like that!!

ronnie my loft burnt down 2 yrs ago and i was forced to start over again, i was gifted alot of birds which i never knew alot about and i also spent a small fortune on new stock to be honest i bought too many but i was in my mind trying to come back bigger and better than before. i only purchased birds i thought would improve my loft anyway i sold some ybs on here this yr to pay towards a e.t.s system and then advertised some stock on here just before yb racing started. the birds i was advertising i had no idea if there children in my yb team were going to be triple combine winners or a waste of a perch but i let the parents go anyway and all at a loss to myself. i wasn't in it for making money just cutting down on a massive work load.

ive give away ybs this yr as well as put them in charity sales, ive also run a sale for a fellow fancier whose loft was burnt down. i may not post much on here but im still learning just like most on here.

p.s from the ybs sold on here there has been a good response coming back results wise.

good luck to you all for the remainder of racing

please do not misunderstand me here, i am not knocking guys who sell birds,[who am i to judge?]stu has given me some birds and sold me some birds, most of the guys who sell on here are good guys, who are honest people, the people i am knocking are guys who turn up with the list, then never even log on until next time, most if not all of the time ,they do not even give to help run the site, all this site is to them is a free ads site.
