Guest Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 what's the story with the kruisbeck(what's he won/bred?) i seen is name on ponderosas site but did,nt notice any records for him. Hi Thunderbolt, below is a link to the Wim Muller site, it's a terrific site for information and some great eye pics. You'll see Kruisbeck (twisted beak I think) is one of the top breeders. Tumley Lofts will know much more than me because they are not only pigeon people that love their birds ut also very proffesional in their approach and knowledge,I'm sure James would share any information you might want to know. Me I pick on quality of pigeon, the cock I purchased from them I picked by the eye; the pedigree was a bonus, I do like to see a good pedigree because good family anscestry is a bonus. http://people.zeelandnet.nl/wamuller/
chichichi Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Nothing is kept pure here Chichi, but I think you are entirly wrong about the whites I have a white grizzle that flew Palamos last year and Perth as a two year old. White Buscheaart's and I bought in the Aardens too. peter we have found by experience that the falcons down here take all the different birds from the batch,, what I mean is if we had 20 mealies and 1 cheq they would take the cheq,, our problem is we have very few birds with lots of white on them.. so when we are training and take 50 and there is only 2 with large ammounts of white on they get hit first,, we have seen this with our own eyes,, the odd birds stand out like a sore thumb,, but the birds are crackers and I hope they get the chance to get to the race point.. best of luck ant
swilcox Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 676 is a dark pie cock called Don Leo, a pigeon i believe to be one of the best breeders alive in Holland today, a super pigeon. The second picture is of a pair of Aardens that is more famous in Holland than the Dolle, Smaragd, etc etc its the Bonte Koppel of Nico Volkens, he is the best distance flyer in Holland bar none. They are both bred by Sam De Jong.
swilcox Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Just out of interest the best long distance racing pigeon in Holland today is the Toon, he has spent the last year mated to a sister to Raymond Blauwe Bertus amongst other hens, he is breeding them to. The second picture is typical of the Volkens/Bonte Koppel Aardens
swilcox Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Rooney, a super racer and breeder for Peter De Haan, again inbred Bonte Koppel and Sam De Jong. I hope people dont mind me going i get excited about these birds. Stuart

Guest Hjaltland Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 how good are the jan Aardens on the water would they do 360 miles from france into dublin fantistic looking birds realy nice I can tell you they fly that here into the Shetland Islands. A really cracking strain, and look and handle well.
Guest surfer Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 This is one of my Jan Aardens bred by H. Metselaar, sire to a two year old cock that was 17th open Fougeres and timed from Tarbes last year.
swilcox Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Its true that the Jan Aarden family can be most beautiful, but the real key is to ensure that every generation flys the distance and performs. On my travels i have seen some super distance lofts but ive noticed that in the real top lofts, the birds are not so piedy and attractive. By contrast ive been to some Aarden specailists who havnt a result to there name and there birds look beauties. So in conclusion the basket never lies regardless of family My best Jan Aarden hen is a quite simple Blue Hen and if she is what i think she is she will make quite a name for herself.

Guest Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Agree there are pigeons that look 'hard' and they are often the long distance performers, however there is no doubt some of the pretty ones do win as well. My yearling cock who is a bit special by performance is out of a VDW cock. I purchased this cock at Barnsley at a Europa sale, it was funny he had already bred a yearling to top the fed at about 280 miles when paired with a Deweert hen. The deweert hen went for £60, the VDW went to my opening bid of £20; why well she was pretty him he looked hard and fascinatinatingly there were about a dozen fanciers like myself with their eye glasses out and none of them 'picked' him, shows traditional eye sign is b**l**ks. He was paired with a Mcdonald ch hen, the VDW a Ch too. As a point of interest have a look at the louella site the 30th January sale list I think there are vdw on there look at the difference with the Jan Aardens the vdw look hard nosed, the jan aardens more pretty.
