Is the lanarkshire Fed Leicester yearling open, a meaningless race as far as schooling for yearlings is concerned. I would have to say yes,on the basis they have already been to Newark. Is there any advantage sending your yearlings to Leicester with it only being some 20 miles further, think not.

I thought we would have been going to Leicester 2 weeks ago so seen as we are'nt get it right up the *expletive removed* that voted to go that way :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/

the more races the more experienced the yearlings will be for next year i have a few yearlings for eastbourne that never went tonight

if they return from eastbourne then hopefully next year i can benefit of having some yearlings that have got to the coast

club mate of mine races yearlings to the coast every year not a bad flyer some call him jittery

but he is not so jittery to send his yearlings to the coast

You are missing the point, they will not be that much wiser for a race 20 miles further than they have already been. And also they are very much at risk every time you send them,if you chose to go to the coast fair enough but that is not the question.

so you send a bird to 270 miles then back again to 250 surely it has gained valuable exprience from both races

so in my opinion its not a wasted race

do you stop your yearlings vincent? at 250 miles

Myself personally would not see the point in sending a yearling to 250 after it had been to 270 some weeks earlier.Have sent some yearlings to 330 but most will stop at leicester. And this is were the dilemma arises, they have been to Newark so why risk them to go to Leicester with it not being much further. So on that basis this year the majority of my yearlings would be just as well schooled being stopped at Newark. And will be.

Sorry mate meant to ask how many yearlings have you got and how many will go to the coast.??Last year i sent 6 to the coast but generally i believe 250 is enough. As i put more importance in having them as 2yo so they can go over the channel.

not really sure on it, but what i will say is  this the birds that made it  from  newbury, is no guarantee they will come out of  it again, or eastbourne, there where a lot of  older birds lost at newbury  that had flown eastbourne, last year, and over the water, some say when they are in the position to reproduce  there type they are only as good as there last race,  and go on to say they are only racing pigeons  yearlings out of the young bird national went down  in  hexham, and wakefield so they havent learnt any thing flying a lesser  distance :o

The more they are in the basket the better as long as they are coping with it.
