pjc Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 I went to photograph the following pigeon belonging to a good friend of mine yesterday and when i found out what the bird had done it caused me to think! The qustion is when do you consider a bird good enough to retire to the stock loft?
b.massey Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 If it breeds a good pigeon that keeps winning.... Needs to produce the goods to earn a place for me

just ask me Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 like one to race first before going into stock loft with consitant good results not just one performance selection must be hard in the few years back into the sport apart from a odd hen that i put that would have raced as young young bird but bred good ones with my widowhood cocks and would be a full sister to a cock that is racing well (downside of widowhood cant fully test hens on the road ) i only have put one cock so far into stock loft have a cock that breeding winners racing at the moment and is a good racer if hes there end of the year he will go in too

pjc Posted June 8, 2009 Author Report Posted June 8, 2009 so far he has 17 x 1st club, 3 x 1st fed (may be 4 times as he may have also topped a different fed as a yb), his sire, g/sire, gg/sire and ggg/sire are all multiple winners and breeders of winners but the cock in the pic still hasn't ben stopped for stock.
just ask me Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 and if he's not - he won't the sires and dams of our winners have all been sent to one race too many so true i know what u mean he should really be in the stock loft would agree with u totally just looking for that next win from him its wrong i know and to be honest i cant defend myself on why hes in the racing loft but us pigeon men and women do some stuipid things allthough u have me thinking again now :-/

Would be my stock now prob. Unless I still had the sire firing out young then see no need to I suppose, May as well keep winning with him and let his sire keep the blood coming out
pjc Posted June 8, 2009 Author Report Posted June 8, 2009 he will prob be retired when he reaches 20 x 1st!
