Guest stevie-b Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 i went in shed today to find a hen with bottom part of beak split anybody had this before and how did they fix it
Tony C Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Cant say I've ever seen this stevie-b. What I'd be inclined to do is lock the hen in a hen box or nest box and put a plastic clip on ring on the opposite leg to the ring leg and tie a piece of string between the two, this should stop her lifting a foot to scratch it. Put TCP or a couple of drops of Iodine in her drinking water to try and stop it from becoming infected.
Blue Chequer Pied Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 See if you can get some medical glue. Doctors use it rather than stitches nowadays for a lot of cuts but you would have to be really careful with its application. Paul.
Guest Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 plain old superglue will do the same thing thats what it was originaly invented for, closeing wounds on the battlefield dave

Roland Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 plain old superglue will do the same thing thats what it was originaly invented for, closeing wounds on the battlefield. dave Agree 100%. When I had real deep cuts, when carpet laying, I would slam in some Copydex. This too was for hold together a persons inside when unable to stitch.

gd Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 whatever you do - do not be tempted to stick back a cap/crown on your teeth using superglue I have an aquaintance who regularly did this and he ended up needing to have a bone graft to his jaw and all his teeth as implants due to glue rotting away the gums etc
Blue Chequer Pied Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 Well done mate hope it works out ok! Paul.
