ask you local council for help , you only pay a small charge and it is cheaper than buying poisen your self , your problem cannot be so big surely ?

some councils in england no longer do pest control it is done by private firms and can be expensive depending on how bad the problem is.

I have bait boxes and traps set the whole time. Rats will ruin your birds so you can not have them near. In your place I would not consider cost or anything else. Those rats have to go and quick. Goodness knows what damage they will do if you have children. And even adults can pick up serious illnesses from handling anything the rats have peed on. And they pee all the time. In fact both rats and mice leave a trail of pee behind them as they travel.

Please don't mess about with ferrets, dogs or anything like that, just concentrate on getting those filthy sods from there. Get a specialist in and let him use his trade poisons because they are far more powerful than the stuff you would buy for domestic use.

Once they are gone you should make all your place rat proof. This is because if you have had rats you will definately get them again. The rats that you have killed will have left trails that other rats can follow for up to two years. So you know what to expect.

Looks to me that you have a really big problem.

Like White Logan says best phone the council----even in this area they will help.

If all else fails a guy in Beith club works with East Ayrshire Pest Control and may also offer advice.
