Guest cosmic dave Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Can Humans catch the worms that pigeons can carry ? I have kids and it was just a question that popped into my head the other day. :-/
Guest youngboy Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 well i never got worms off my pigeons when they had worms? but i say you probly could if the kids dont wash hands propperly after handling/ handing feeding the pigeons or even cleaning out?
OLDYELLOW Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 it is possible but i've been around birds since i could walk and only once did i get 1 roundworms on back of me leg easily treated so is possible but if hygene good then you shouldnt have a problem your kids are more likely to get worms from raw veg and playing in soil than pigeons

If so this is not actually a worm but a fungus infection which spreads outwards giving the ring affect.

Guest IB Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Mate at work made similar mistake, asked another guy how to spell 'fallopian'. So that guy wondered what he wanted to know that for, went over to his desk, found him typing up a letter, and asked. This was the answer: 'It's this dress-code instruction that we've to wear a tie. I'm writing to management saying I can't wear one because it constricts my fallopian tubes and I can't breath right'. John was asthmatic, think (hope) he meant other tubes. ;D
Guest IB Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 To answer cosmic dave's question: I doubt it, but I still think it pays to err on the safe side, and practice good hygeine. Simple think like washing your hands after cleaning out will make sure you don't transfer anything to the house & family.
Guest Owen Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 There are a lot of diseases that you can pick up from birds including pigeons. And a hell of a lot from cats and dogs. Neither of which should be allowed to roam about where there are children playing. Then there are the things you can pick up from farm animals. An example are the dangers to pregnant women by pregnant sheep. And the ever present E-Coli is always a risk where children are handling animals. Anybody that is not aware of this is asking for trouble.
OLDYELLOW Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 lol too much rushing about lol ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
