After antibiotic treatment ...

whenever i treat my pigeons for antibiotics, i always put natural yoghurt in the water for 2 days after there course of antibiotics! does anyone do anything different or simular

My y/birds get natural live yoghurt twice a week as a matter of course whilst racing.

Do the y/birds Sundays & Wednesdays, do it to help ward of YBS plus any imbalance of gut flora caused by the stress of racing & training.

where can i buy natural yogurt?  supermarket?  Plain variety?  HOw much per liter of water?

you can hust buy it in asdas,tescos or whether,i buy i yakult and just put a container of this to two pints of water,dunno if im doing wrong but theyve never told me so

i put it on the corn...sometimes u can sprinkle it with vittamins...the birds seem to take it better. when its on the corn the birds have a better chance of getting more .

You will kill all the friendly bacteria in plain yoghurt if you mix it with water. Mix it on the corn

No yogurt can have live bacteria... and dead bacteria is just that DEAD....

I put Natural Yogurt on the corn, never put Yogurt in the water, Wiley.

Agree with Hyacinth, mix with corn if things are iffy (I do it over three days).

 

Have always thought of them as a live culture of bacteria, millions of 'em.

 

If they're dead they won't be able to attach to anything, far less the gut wall, and go straight thro the bird onto the floor

i only treat when i see something mate,not sure if there antibiotics but if i can see something in the microscope i treat the birds,for what i can see!I dont no if im doing wrong but i dont agree in just blind treating them no offense taken mate  ;D

i like the idea of the microscope, i havent got one , but have a good pigeon flier freind who has, and its amazing what you can see, and at differant times of the year also, especially cocci and worms :) so a good investment
