Hi Showman, I let them wake up to the natural sun. The lights come on at 6pm and turns off at 10pm. I'm at the loft at sunrise.. just really weird. Sunrise is at 6am.

Just underwent 10 weeks of dark and have the lights on now. One thing I’ve noticed the birds do not perch up at night any longer. I have maybe 1/3 or my team I see on the floor when I get to to the loft early morning. Any thought why the sudden change of behavior? Plenty of perched and they have always perched up at night. Please help. Thank you

Can’t find any of this stuff local. I wonder if this is the same stuff as vet rx? What do u guys think? Deweerd has a product belgadrops..one drop in each eye and nostril. The same effect?? Thanks

My thoughts on this is once you’ve triggered the moult...it should continue right regardless the amount of light there are on right? This is what I can think of when I read the comment on a 4 week system. Any others wanna chime in?

Read somewhere that this gave an immunity boost to the pigeons. Curious if anyone here used this instead of vaccinating with the killed vaccine. Thanks for your responses.

amox and tylan is known to be a great bomb for respiratory...i do not have tylan alone but have doxy-t...so yjis is why i ask. thanks for the responses.

Can amox be combined with doxy and tylan in the drinker? Thanks

Hi Wiley...I'm in California...USA. Thanks for the response. So I need min at least 6 weeks? Will they continue on with the body moult after I pull them off to the dark.? Can u give me sound advice on how you would go about it if this was your loft? Put them on lights ASAP after 6 weeks or gradually introduce them to the light?

Btw lads this money race which I'm targeting the birds for is our 8th race...3rd week of October. Keep in mind though I still would like to be competitive from the get go! I started with 30-45 day old pigeons some...starting the system just last week June 7th. Thanks Blue bar

Hi lads, I went on the dark last minute and started the system on may 25th. Our first race is till the 3rd week of August and our money race is the last race of the seaso . How long do u suggest I keep them on dark for? I darken the loft at 6p and open up on 8am. The birds are just getting on a roll with the moult and I see plenty feathers in the morning. Any ideas and suggestions are welcomed. Bluebar

Hi Wiley, can u share more info about the dark old birds? Currently my old bird season starts around 2nd week April. How lng should they be darkened? Can u give me an outline on when and how long? I'm guessing we use natural light and there is no need for lghts as come spring the hours of light are longer? Also currently in my tram I have late hatches born July-early august that have gone though a yb type dark system being that it is close to winter now.. Thanks Jan

Hi lads...I've been flying dark for 7 years now and I think it is a really good system, the best system really for ybs in my opinion. Anyways this one guy in my federation was sharing yb systems with friends on Facebook. He flies the light system btw. We belong to a federation here in San Francisco bay area located in California. I asked him if he thought that the light system was so good then why does 90% of european fanciers fly dark? The following was his reply... "LIGHT SYSTEM and DARK SYSTEM are both good young bird system... it's just the choice of the fancier what system they want to use due to thier busy schedule.... mostly european fanciers are retired or they have a loft man and they could do the dark system with no problem!!! the light system here in my club are suited for working fancier.". If you ask me this guy doesn't know what the hellhe is talking about! Retired? Loftman? Tell me guys..do you have hired hands to help you fly te dark? Are you retired? Is this why you lads over there in Europe fly the dark? Hahaha! This guy is a joke! He don't know that the dark is far superior than any system out there! Jan

Hi guys, Im tryng to understand more how to medicate on the food. How much on corn if it is normally dissolved in 2 liters? And if 2 liters is to treat 20 pigeons, then medicine on corn is to be given to 20 birds as well right? So if my team of 20 pigeons are eating 1.25 ounces a day then is it safe to say.... 1.25 x 20= 25 ounces of corn tylan dosed at 1/2 teaspoon per 2 liters of water= 25 ounces of corn one more thing..does it matter if I split this into 2 feedings or is it advised to feed at one time? Or doesnt matter? tHANKS... Jan

Ihave seen some pigeon products that say to administer on thursday, but do some of you actually give the birds this? Like Deweerd WN.....to administer on thursday. I i know this product is to clear the slime in the throat...but is tooclose on shipping night?

slug, so the slit should be slightly open. not closed like a zipper. When I do check the throat in my race team I like the calm semi closed windpipe...I never paid attention to the slit till of late last year. Thanks the the replies.....any more?

hello folks....I have read the curtain being described as the two little pallets that has a crease in the middle that lies in the back of the throat. Recent reading accompanied by a recent visit to a friends loft has made me think otherwise. Can you share any of your opinions on what it really is. My last reading on this subject described it at the slit that lies on the roof of the mouth,( upper beak) . What did Mr Tasker mean by this curtain? Is it the back of the throat or the slit? I did notice though all my top pigeons this past yb season had closed slits? Does the slit mean anything? One friend told me the slit opens while in condition, but I really doubt it. Any help would be great. fred

Was listening to some of Rob Woolis's tapes...he said he likes the pupils to be nice and round? If not round...they are not worth breeding at all. Anyone agree to this or not?
