all the loft floors are covered with Filon easy to scrape or mop out with disinfectant, boxes all have 1/2 inch mesh plastic floor grills , used the burner about 12 years ago not since the grills .....ray

;D i use the blowtorch as & when , especially in yb loft , perches and floors , my lofts are painted inside with household emulsion , no effect on paintwork yet , only allow flames to lick over painted areas ! hope this helps you Mac .                                                      andy 8)

I use heavy chippings on the floor so it would be impossible for me to blowtorch mine unless I renewed the chippings every week!! I do disinfect the loft B4 pairing and also b4 racing - then once a month during racing when I renew the chippings.

Well this last season start ( like now ....) twice soaked with bleach, then twice blow torched, the painted throughly 3  times...

Will do the same to be finished before mating up. Yes I either use white, but mostly lime in corners and under paper in grills. One spot - this season Pour on of course. Hada bad case of sommat year before last ... took the 15 months to get better. Hence why I haven't and won't breed from them.

Do not really wish to put a downer on things on this thread. last year a paper came out of Belgium which compared isolates from pigeon lofts where fanciers blow torched their lofts.

To cut a long story short they concluded that in order to use this to eliminate the bugs you would have to do so thorough as after the initial flaming they still where able to isolate coccidia and worm.

If you are intent on doing this you have to be so thorough

before you uae a blow torch on your floor u first have to dampen the floor slightly all over ,personally i do this with very cheap bleach ,the idea is that anything that is in the wood will come to the surface to the damp area and is then zapt by the blow torch thats what i learned a long time ago and have been using a blow torch for years hence i dont worm or treat for cocci.

I use a blow torch everyday and its the best money you can spend in this game ..My mate cracks up every time he sees my loft because I tend to get carried away and sometimes burn the floor but Id rather have a dry loft than sick pigeons

we always scrap, burn, then floor white the floor and perches, every day.

but in the winter and when moulting we use deep litter, just last week we picked up the deep liter and back to the same routine.
