Guest bigbok Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 too young ,too old ,too cold ,not prepared right ,lack of sunshine ,calcium ,vitamins et c etc . one of the above or a combination of. one of the main reasons why it is still to early to pair up
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 i would of said because of the cold i paired up early last year and had a few with only one egg hence why im pairing later this year . how old is the hen by the way
DOVEScot Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 Some maiden hens only lay one or some even lay a smaller that normal egg, just make sure it is not egg bound by checking for swelling at the vent, but if four days have past and it looks healthy I would not think so :-/
Dod Posted December 28, 2009 Author Report Posted December 28, 2009 the hen is a 06 and she isnt egg bound i checked
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 might of gone barron ? will have to wait and see in the next round
DOVEScot Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 the hen is a 06 and she isnt egg bound i checked Then I would just let nature take it's course and see if it is fertile :-/

kirky Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 I have an 06 hen that always lays 1 egg in her 1st nest, lays normal rest of season.
gulkie Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 slip her a dummy and it will feel more natural to her sitting a pair instead of one.
kirky Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 slip her a dummy and it will feel more natural to her sitting a pair instead of one. will put 1 in tomorrow as you are right will sit better,
