Guest joshdonlan Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 I have a bird that looks a bit thin and is lagging a bit with the moult. Would giving 1 white sesqui tablet do the bird any harm? Thanks Josh
Guest asha Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Why bother josh, bin it,the moult`s natures anwser to find the weaklings,go against nature ,and she will take her revenge later.
Guest joshdonlan Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 NO ASHA IM FED UP OF YOUR POSTS. BIN IT ISNT THE ANSWER. WHERE ARE YOUR BIRDS? jimmy white Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 I have a bird that looks a bit thin and is lagging a bit with the moult. Would giving 1 white sesqui tablet do the bird any harm? Thanks Josh no josh,, no harm at all,, but it would maybe bettter to have your birds droppings tested , maybe find the cause first, rather than the treatment,, but a white sesqui tablet would not do any harm whatsoever
Chriss Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 yes i agree you need to get them tested first prehaps using a droppings & sawb testing kit. If you dont have one allready you can get from here http://pigeons.taylorschoice.co.uk/products/163914_dropping&&swab_testing_kit.php and they phone results on the day that the samples are recieved and once you have found out you can decide what treatment you want to give them.
Guest joshdonlan Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 I got birds tested under 2 months ago by versa laga, nothing major, this is the only bird looking like this, so just thinking of using white sesqui.

Guest joshdonlan Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 I have decided to take advice from Jimmy White and treat again for cocci. Josh
steve d Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 It is up to you Josh but I would isolate the bird and just treat that one for cocci, I have a cock here that had watery droppings as a youngster the only one out of 25, i treated him only then he won a fortnight later, even ourselves have off days were we are sick I am glad Asha is not my doctor. ;)
Guest spin cycle Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 I have a bird that looks a bit thin and is lagging a bit with the moult. Would giving 1 white sesqui tablet do the bird any harm? Thanks Josh probably not a lot of good either....i've never had a lot of luck with it. it must cost people a fortune testing all the time. is the bird sitting on the perch 'fluffed up'? are its droppings different from others ? i'd treat for cocci first...but its difficult to say without seeing droppings or birds
Guest joshdonlan Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 The birds droppings are normal, not too fluffed up, but it is cold so that may not be too helpful. The birds crop is full, but can feel keel at the back of bird. Josh
Guest joshdonlan Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 The dropping results came back with slightly high cocci count, but i treated for it. Maybe its time to treat again. Is cocci a common problem or is it present in every loft? Josh
just ask me Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 useally happens during some sort of stress really during moult or racing most common times in most lofts some birds can handle it better than others suppose just like humans when u think about it
Guest Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Why bother josh, bin it,the moult`s natures anwser to find the weaklings,go against nature ,and she will take her revenge later. josh i dont know what has gone on before regarding asha but i dont believe that this is bad advice maybe a bit sharply put but just 1or2 birds that show drastic signs in the moult never come to anything in my loft better sorting now than keeping to lose later only my oppinion
Guest joshdonlan Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Hi Frank, this is an 06 stock bird which has proven itself, so im willing to give it a chance. As for the problem with Asha lol is that seems to be his answer to everything and i havent seen 1 helpful post from him yet. Josh
Guest asha Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Hi Josh :)like your style, butyour post could be termed aggresive, abusive ct,i wonder if he mods will delete your post ;D ;D By the way,my post was from the heart, and will save you a hell of a lot of problems/time/money,in the future.
Guest Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 fair point josh if it a stock bird that may be different no need to race but i would still keep a close eye on the young from that bird to see if it has passed on any bad habits but i feel that there is something different about the moult this season especialy with the darkies and your not the only one experienceing this but genraly speaking a bad moult can mean a weekness in that bird and i believe we!! yes me included dont pay enough attention to natures way of sorting the strong from the week and this helps to bring round all the alements we get every year
Guest joshdonlan Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Asha, im not being aggresive at all, only speaking my mind. Im sorry if you are speaking from the heart and you just come across wrong all the time, but from how i see it you are being unreasonable and unhelpful. Im fairly new to the sport and maybe looking too much into the, maybe the birds just having an off day, but ill admit i have little experience and know alot of guys on here have it in abundance and are most helpful. Thanks Frank, Maybe i should of said this originally.
OLDYELLOW Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Hi Josh as you had a high cocci count all your doing is keeping the numbers down so in effect this was high usual symptoms bubbly droppings , however the loosing of weight would give me concerns it may be worms , theres various treatment for cocci what you use is your choice however if my bird i would isolate and worm first , but this in my opinon is treating blind i know you havent found a good avian vet in your area perhaps a club member would point you in the right dirrection , Asha there are tactfull ways in which you can give advice and im not arguing that in nature a ill bird is suppressed as no medicines available and so its survival of the fitest , however this bird has proved its self and Josh would like to save it , the facts are these birds have previously had a high cocci count and may of flaired up as a result of the moult , stress brings on secondary illness. So if you said well Josh fairest thing to do it move this bird on because its constituion is compromised and will be a gateway for illness in your curent flock the young lad may have viewed your post with some merit . Hope you sort it Josh
Guest shadow Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 good pigeons never seem to get ill personally I never propped up sick pigeons no matter how well bred they were
