Read a post recently abot a vet treating a horse for worms .as she was a horse keeper herself she was asked what worm treatment she used. Her reply was none. Its been at least 16 years since i treated for anything except paro-virus which is compulsary. I do however give my birds natural products regulary.

the duo is an orange paste,  i mixed 1 inch of the paste  in a little hot water (off the boil about 15 mins) then added it to 2 litres of cold  drinking water it settles very fast on the base of the drinker, the birds had not had access to water since mid day on the previous day and went straight to the water , i had to stir the water fast to keep it circulating in the drinker repeating the stiring at intervals to make sure they drank floating particles of the paste , i took the water away again and repeated the stirring process after their main evening feed , the result was well worth  the effort ! will repeat again in 10 days , got the paste posted from the internet took 3 days ........ray

as regards the post on herbal stuff ,wood pigeons will eat  hawthorne every few months as a cleanser makes the inside smell a bit like soap think this takes care of worms in the wild state !! tried giving it my stock birds but they are reluctant to take it and was not going to carve them up to see if its worked anyway  .............have now put the birds on a course of abidec  childerens multivitamin i got from morrisons today .

ive used the horse wormer for a few years but not in the last 2 years, found it good but never found worms, but a friend did do his with the same wormer and ive never seen has many worms come out of pigeons in my life, and his looked well and flew quit decent aswell,u never know what your birds have inside them ,thats why you need a routine system to keep the nastys away or true form will never be reached when racing comes around.

EQVALAN has a wide safety margin. It is 1.78% Ivermectin.  I have used it for over 25 years now, and it costs about £10 for a Standard syringe from most Agricultural Stores (Tell them it is for your pony).  About 1.5 inches mixed into a pint of hot water then add to a drinker and top up with cold.  It will not mix in cold water, goes like string.  I repeat the dose in a fortnight as eggs will have hatched (but no new ones laid yet).  Birds will be literally "rejuvenated" after they have dumped a load of worms from their guts believe me.

Just a question Bill, how many days will or should the treatment go on for, and also to how much water?
