Guest Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Why if young bird sickness have they given you baytrol, vet needs shooting and how much did he charge you for that.

Guest Davy Fleming Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Extremely sorry mate must be very hard to take but it is my opinion that this is not y.b sickness. Certainly not sure what it may be but never heard of symptoms like that being y.b. sickness must be something else as don't trust that lot with a bargepole but he will be ok if he is making money. Good luck anyway

Good luck anyway I wouldnt think at this time of the year Dave, looks like it could be something more than meets the eye. Hope you get all fixed out mate.
fletch Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 doesnt sound like young bird sickness to me, not sur ewhat it could be best bet would be trying a avian vet asap,
Guest Davy Fleming Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Dougie, With symptoms like that there is no way that's y.b sickness poor guy
flyingteessider Posted October 8, 2009 Author Report Posted October 8, 2009 every bird dead so far wasnt injected for the race season they were late breds my yearlings didnt race so were not injected for paramoxy they also look down, none of the race team so far have it or look down the vet said yb sickness but i dont think so, from healthy to hudeld up still eating then theyre sick then breathing hard then dead 3 days
Guest Davy Fleming Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Is the vets name Mr Dick know it's not funny but wouldn't waste any more money on him and get an avian vet as the guy earlier said as this is good advice
cemetary Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 every bird dead so far wasnt injected for the race season they were late breds my yearlings didnt race so were not injected for paramoxy they also look down, none of the race team so far have it or look down the vet said yb sickness but i dont think so, from healthy to hudeld up still eating then theyre sick then breathing hard then dead 3 days Isolate the ones that arent too well mate, if using baytril watch how you are giveing them it, could be doing worse than you think with it. Is it an Avian vet you have spoken to, if they havent been jagged, could be paramixo.
Guest bigda Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 sounds more like you have paramyxovirus are the birds squirting fluid, have you treated for cocci going light
flyingteessider Posted October 8, 2009 Author Report Posted October 8, 2009 pure water some of them i told him this but he said they wernt twitching and and didnt have a nerve problem
Tony C Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 At this stage my course of action would be to get a 2nd opinion and in the interim split the birds into two section, treat one lot with Baytril and the other with Amoxicillin.
flyingteessider Posted October 8, 2009 Author Report Posted October 8, 2009 if i inject the birds for paramox tomorrow is it to late am i shutting the door after the horse has bolted
Babybird Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 if i inject the birds for paramox tomorrow is it to late am i shutting the door after the horse has bolted wouldnt do that when they are so ill :-/
just ask me Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 if i inject the birds for paramox tomorrow is it to late am i shutting the door after the horse has bolted do it as quick as possible ;) ;) also follow tony c advice also mix 10% ronizaole in the water then come in with amino acids and a real good muliitamin
Guest bigda Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 pure water some of them i told him this but he said they wernt twitching and and didnt have a nerve problem separate them take the water out and grit from them feed them and keep the water from them only give them water small amount in box and take away after feed the water Will have to be medicated amoxacillin for 7 days then vits for 3 days they key is keep the water away from them only after food small amount save you in the cost of medicines then jag all the birds that haven't any signs of this you will be at this treatment for 10- 14 weeks till this clears then you can jag them but some might have a defect it all depends on the severity of the virus
