edthekid Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 where do you take bloods from a bird
Guest bakes Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 never had to but would of thought if you spray some alchol onto the pigeon top of the pigeon thigh would be easyer to take a blood sample from there as if you go wrong putting an needle into base of neck you could end up nacking the pigeons up all the best mate.
kev43 Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 wudnt like 2 advise any 1 in2 doin that ,,,y wud u want 2 anyway ?
REDCHEQHEN Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Thought you took blood from toes or ankles - unless you are a vet - you just 'pinprick' the bird - it depends what you want - DNA is just done from a couple of drops of blood on a supplied 'cotton bud' with a cover

Guest shippy Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 RED CHEQHEN YOU TAKE IT FROM THE WING BUTT ONTO GLASS SLIDE ASSUMING FOR TESTING BETTER WITH ASSISTANCE SOMETIMES BLOOD SPURTS DONT PANIC ONLY LASTS A SECOND OR TWO HOPE THIS HELPS
kirky Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 i watched a vet do this and she took it from under the wing close to the body when moving the feathers apart you can see a vein.
pjc Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Thought you took blood from toes or ankles - unless you are a vet - you just '*expletive removed*' the bird - it depends what you want - DNA is just done from a couple of drops of blood on a supplied 'cotton bud' with a cover DNA easily done from a feather, much easier than blood.
edthekid Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 mainly intested in blood cells oxygen ect..
