how old are they (what was the year of harvest) older peas have less water in them, are they polished. my local farm sell 05 peas unpolished which are quite dark. heres a pic of some polished maple peas

hi lads the peas i get from a local farm are a little pinkish too, there are lots of diffrent {strains etc}of peas beans wheat etc,and the dry summer will affect this aswell if they are last years.juust make sure they get a good mix of grains and you wont go far wrong ,get some barley in them

We get 3 kinds here maples, trappers, austrian

maples are the largest and have the most protien they are wrinkly and brown, austrian are smaller and greenish and pretty smooth they contain less protien than maples, the trappers are white to pinkish and smooth and contain the least protien of the three

I feed the trappers even though they contain less protien the birds eat them lots better than the others
