Guest G.Drysdale + son Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 This will bee my 2nd year racing have been giving my birds peanuts since i started. My brother has been racing a few years told me to give them to YB's & older.
hotrod Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 most fanciers i know use peanuts normaly later on in the season for the longer races, you can try peeled sunflower seeds they do the same thing ,high in fat's, and the birds love them as well.
jimmy white Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 once pigeons get the taste of p,nuts,,, they love them , these can be used for the fanciers own advantage
W.D. Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Peanuts are great for y/b's in the nest, use them on a night as a way to get an extra feed into them after the parents have already fed them on breeding mix. Also good when the cock is starting to look at his hen again or getting on a bit and getting just that bit lazy at feeding them.If you do try them you will be surprised at the weight they put on when you move them over to y/b section. Dont use them much after this except to get them used to eating them and as a titbit, not that we are bothered about racing y/b's that much. Again like Mr. Guiness only buy ones for humans.
Guest Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 i always fed peanuts and alway bought from health shop then one day i put some in my mouth to eat as i have done many times, but this time they tasted discustin.the pack of peanuts i had bought had fungle growing in side them, ive never fed another peanut since.this will nock birds of form :-/.
