Guest bakes Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 ive been measuring it wrong i measure it in a water jug was looking at pints they have two heaped desurt spoons per bird each day so 24 desurts spoons for 12 pigeons
Guest bakes Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 they need to be getting at least an ounce each per day as there still growing i give around about 1 1/4oz per bird per day but some days they get more others a little less just depends on the weather and them trapping etc 1 1/4 oz i give my birds two heaped desurt spoons each bird is this to little or two much still learning havent long started
Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 1 1/4 oz i give my birds two heaped desurt spoons each bird is this to little or two much still learning havent long started im also new mate feeding i just cant get my head around just stating what i have been told another way of doing things is to feed on the loft floor (cleaned first) a hand full at a time and when 2 or 3 birds go for a drink stop feeding. Not sure what 2 heaped dessert spoons would be so cant really say there are some cracking fanciers on here that will be able to shed more light on this subject im sure although i know alot want tell u anything about the way they feed.
REDCHEQHEN Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 I've got various measures if you get some of those tiny jars of jam (like sample pots) or the likes of horseradish sauce (Morrisons sell them) - the small glass jars vary in size and hole between 3/4 and 1 1/4 ounces The paste jars - like Shiphams (beef spread etc (yuk!!) hold about 2 ounces I also have a set of measuring spoons - and the 15 ml spoon (tablespoon) holds half an ounce A dessertspoon - is generally 10ml - approx 10g - x 2 = 3/4 ounce (which is 21 grammes) My youngsters get 1 scoop of 15 ml in the morning - and a scoop plus a bit in the evening
Guest bakes Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 thank you redcheqhen much apreciated.
Guest triballofts Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 hi i feed youngbirds 1/2 oz in the morning and 1oz at night remember that they are still growing so try and feed enough you can win on tight feeding but they wont be much good next year a youngbird is only a youngbird for 1 year and if started off right they could be with you for 5=6 years as race birds
kev43 Posted September 3, 2009 Author Report Posted September 3, 2009 am sure i posted this thread ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Guest Davy Fleming Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Many different types of ways to feed and probably most of them are suitable for the fancier and the way they race , but if you feed approx 1/2 ounce in morning and 3/4 ounce at night you will never be to far away then you need to adjust very marginally to suit your own ways during racing season of course. When they get heavy in the moult I feed the best and don't hold it back
