Hi

I am afraid you are wrong Chris . An 0844 number is not a premium number and that is why we chose it. From a BT landline we are talking a couple of pence a minute. This is very different from an 09 number which is premium.

By having this number everyone in the country has a level playing field on there cost of the call to us rather than having a normal 0161 number.

You can also send us requests by e-mail at info@send4sure.co.uk and shortly there will be an enquiry form on the website. Eventually there will be the facility to book, pay and track online within the next few weeks/months without even picking up the phone. Also we are more than willing to listen to our customers and if we need to introduce a free call service then we will certainly consider it.

Hope that helps

I got a pigeon brought up to Lanarkshire from Pontypridd at the beginning of the week for £25 by Flyin couriers and was well pleased they even phoned my father in law ( thats where the pigeon was getting delivered to ) to say they were stuck in traffic and were running late but pigeon was in A1 condition when it arrived ;)

Hi

Yes my partner in the venture Steve Carroll has been a fancier for 20yrs + . Some of our drivers are as well .

On the phone number front we took the view that a lot of people are ringing mobile numbers etc for the people they are using and we wanted to give a cheap call cost. As I mentioned before we may introduce a free call number it is early days at the moment.

The whole idea of send4sure is to be able to offer a service that is reliable and trustworthy where the pigeons are the first priority.

Land line 01 numbers are free for us and a lot of people we know that are on price plans from BT and cable suppliers :-/

All the best, the more the merrier  :)

Mobile numbers are free to us up to a certain limit on our contract and I am sure a lot of people are the same, so more choice to customers would help althouth a free call number would be great they do not normally accept calls from mobiles

You are right 0844 low rate numbers it is the cost of calling 0844 numbers from a BT land line varies from ½p/minute to 5p/minute depending on the number's 5th, 6th and 7th digits.

£55 does seem a bit much when other couriers are providing a great service in the £25-£35 brackets :-/

Hello All

Just to clarify that our standard charge is £30 for 4 pigeons to the same address so long as the collection and delivery points sit within a normal pricing zone. I believe the Journey concerned was Edinburgh to Pembrokeshire which did fall as a remote zone and we needed to add a surcharge for it.

If you have any pickups we would urge you to give us a call or drop us an e-mail. One of the things we will be doing shortly is putting the quote facility on the website so people can get a price online very quickly and then book the job.

This will take a little time but we are very focused on giving the best service we can and as you can appreciate the £55 quote below was for a very long journey.

Well whilst it is great parr moment having a few competitors, I feel, like the Gas, Electric etc. etc. they will soon have an unwritten cartel. The Gas, Electric etc. etc. means normally for the same service there is in reality about50p per quarter difference.

Now Thatcherism used the very conceicable idea that competition would drive down prices and standards would have to rise. That of course is just a load of ole twaddle and basically untrue.

Now prices may alter due to say Fuel costs, and these couriers prices were as they are now. Fine, I have no bone to grind there.... Deasil 128 or more a litre. Now just over a £1 mark. 20% is the difference. Fine, no problem there then, BUT what I shall be looking for is if there is increases later up to that same price and it is used as an excuse to raise costs.

I think this is normal for most couriers, Amtrak wouldn't even go to outlying or rural areas at least you are offering the option :)
