Roland Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Well I believe that it may well be the case where Couriers of Live stock stick to the own counties. Yes tsharing the burden - for this seems to be just around the corner for them. Yes, there may well be a notch available then for more local and able couriers. Further, I believe, a little thought and effort to set up a relay / stations etc. could well become the order of the day. Say Northants, where I am, Two or three of us could well meet up and deliver birds. Yes and fetch and pass on birds. Now this is not intend for 'Food for Thought' with a regard to lessening costs. That is a seperate issue, and in all fairness I believe the average price is about right remembering that one has to fuel, insure and matain their vechiles and still py the morgage etc. Further, we could have sensible holding stations. Same day and over night if needs be. But in the main, I believe the goal to strive for is reliability. Contacting and explaining must then play a part.
Guest Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Been saying that for a lonnnnnnnnnng while nimpty. But they are only interested in sitting on their rear end and foing sweat FA. The RPRA are geting more like MP's every day. Take all and give nothing.

Guest lvlasked Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 i no his grandad was ill this weekend i belive he said it was his grandad and he said he be back at work today but i guess some things could have went worse
wayne77 Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Well I used Wayne twice and was well pleased....but not sure what has happened this weekend. My dad had bird reported at RSPCA southport and thought use Wayne. When called said his grandad unwell but would do job so gave him details. He text me on Thursday saying could not get hold of RSPCA so I told him not to waste his time travelling up there if no one about. So on Friday my mum got hold of RSPCA and then spoke to Wayne who said would go and collect and expect delivery between 6am and 8am saturday morning. Luckily my mum gets up 5am if at work or not, so was around at 5am no delivery or phone call....then the phone goes RSPCA saying bird not picked up...well my mum not happy as felt embarassed. Not really painted good picture of sport Now Wayne if something happened i'm very sorry.....but a call infoming people is the least that we expect. Alternative arrangements have now been made but I got very upset parents here
Guest Denny Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Just a thought, could there be a link so that forum users can log their 'collection/deliveries so that others can see location areas and courier details and maybe contact the courier arrange theirs around it? E.G - If there was a collection in Walthamstow to Leicester, say on Friday and someone wanted to deliver to Newport Pagnell from St Albans the courier could be contacted and a second collection be arranged on the way up making it a little more worth while for the courier? Could it be there is not the money in the collection/deliveries for the couriers which is why they are not bothering? Maybe a link like that could work for them and us?
gooner Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 the only way to make this work is to form a network with a central hub, and you would need at least two drivers for each county, one to collect and deliver birds and one to take and collect birds to hub during the night. this way the next day the birds would be back in there own county and be delivered by the first driver. this would save drivers doing stupid hours and would mean birds would be delivered within 24hrs. i thought about this about 6 years ago but could not find away of making it run in a financially worthwhile way.one thging is for certain if the courrier problem is not solved then it will bring an end to our sport alot quicker than any hawks
Guest Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Good post gooner, and in my opinion the RPRA should be providing and financing the "Central Hub"
