jimmy white Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 the cock or hen should not be in-fertile at that age,,,, i would suspect this infertility, is because of a past or present, ailment,, most common for this would be paratyphoid/salmonella,,,,,especially with three rounds
showman Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 If eggs are full as you say, both cock & hen are fine !!!
OLDYELLOW Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 or could be eggs have got chilled as its too dam cold
jimmy white Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 paratyphoid can produce, fertile, but" dead in the shell"
THE FIFER Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 ckilled i would say i have had a couple of pairs with just one hatching, its not natural for birds breeding in the hard of the winter as we are having now,
Guest devonred Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 It WAS (past tense) a pair that was loaned to me, the only pair i've had a problem with. they looked in perfect health
jimmy white Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 i dont want to sound alarming devon red, but it does seem strange this is the only pair you have had this bother,, old birds that have this, or carry this para, can look perfect, but can render" dead in the shell" eggs, off course there could well be other reasons, cold , unsettled etc,, but i would tend to make some enquiries from the lender, and try and find out if he has ever had bother with this
