Found and not sure what to do.

Hi all,

 

I am new to this forum and not an enthusiast but I have a question.

 

I am a Gamekeeper and have a pigeon which is hanging around the lanes of one of my farms and I can see a leg ring so i'm assuming its a racer.  I often see them zooming about over here.

 

I have been very very close to it and with a Net I am more than likely going to be able to catch it.

 

Problem is, What do I do then?

 

Could anyone offer advice and possibly a few contact details or web links for the right people to get in touch with.  

 

I am in Swansea, South Wales by the way.

You could find out where it roosts at night, then you'll catch it easy.

hi put it in a box with some water and a bit of uncooked rice ,get the details /number off the ring and post it on here ,also open it s wing out it may have the owners details stamped on the flights ,thank you for caring enough to do this ....pete

Yet another non facier who's taken the trouble of registering, and posting.  Well done SS, and thanks for your efforts this far.  As Peter J says, if you can catch it (I'm sure you'll be used to this type of thing), keep it secure, feed and water it, and post the details up here, you'll get some contact details, once someone's deciphered the ring number.

Good to see non pigeon fanciers doing what they can for the sport, well done SS.

If I see him again I'll do my best to capture him.  Whether I see him again or not is another thing but if I do I will.

 

Thanks for the info, and yes I am used to catching up all sorts but they have nets on the pens ;D

 

If I can I'll get some photos of him and the numbers etc and go from there.
