Delboy Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 yes i agree with you untill the bit good luck to him i call it scamming fanciers yes i know he doesnt force any one but still wrong ;) TOTALLY AGREE
Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Off course there is,and off course its wrong but only morally wrong. As long as this is the case its up to the fanciers to spend wisely but guys you both know this.
Guest vander mungo Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 henry is a nice man but his birds aint worth £30 he never ever won a race in irvine club or a diploma of any kind ,hes a feather merchant. also the bird he timed in the 1000 mile race lionheart was bought from a local fancier who was packing it in.the other 2 may have been bred by him . so in closing henry has made a fortune selling pigeons for 30 years and is not even a fancier so keep your money and buy of bird trader you will have a better chance lc as your saying did he not hold some old record ,for a race from rome. mines dont even do that no leave the back door
alec guinness Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 henry mairs brother worked briefly with my dad many years ago and brought a pair of gift birds to give my father,a nice gesture, unfortunately both youngsters were not up to scratch,as for buying doos from this man,the apple does not fall far from the tree. ;) ;) :)no.

Guest vander mungo Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 His last race was in 1968. His best club position was 3 rd Club from 120 miles. His pigeon Lionheart homed from Barcelona----it took a long time but I think it was about 10 days. It was the record holder into Scotland---probably because very few tried that distance. The bird was bought by Frank Hall on behalf of Jim Biss. Some of the Biss champions contained it's blood lines. I believe there is a member on here from the South of England who has won with Mair bloodlines. In proportion to the numbers sold over the years it's not an outstanding success rate. new it was a record from somewhere novice, where did i get rome in ma hied, ma birds certainly dont dae a barcelona round the back door.

Novice Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 what age will henry be now novice? Frank----I don't think he will me any younger than 75 years of age but possibly 80. Interestingly there was an letter in this weekend's BHW about the pigeon owned by Alan Raeside which did 1000 miles on the 3rd day.
holmsidelofts Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 What amazes me over this guy is if you look at the votes on the poll theres still 18 people who said they would buy from him, some people obviously like throwing money and time away. goes to show how easily people are fooled by what they read in the BHW. Jas
Chris Little Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Like it or not, the pigeon world is filled with fanciers that breed and sell pigeons. Henry is just one of them, buy from him and take your chance just as you would do with any other seller. Cant believe the amount of slagging he is getting on here.... what a lovely bunch ;D

holmsidelofts Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Chris Good Racing Fanciers dont breed to sell and make a killing from our good sport. exactly budgie, All henry is doing is selling rubbish to gullible fanciers who in most cases dont know any better.

Henry is just one of them, buy from him and take your chance just as you would do with any other seller. Cant believe the amount of slagging he is getting on here.... what a lovely bunch ;D I hope I didn't slag the guy off. That was never my intention. I hope I posted facts. Incidentally if any fancier has a performance pigeon which he obtained from a club mate and sold immediately after that performance he could not have had many related pigeons left in the loft. He could not have had mother, father or brothers and sisters. Possibly about 6 children maximum and from these has produced a family which has lasted over 40 years. Even Janssen Brothers could not manage that feat and still produce quality
rlez Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 HENRYS NAME IS IN THE HISTORY BOOKS(LIKE IT OR NOT) BECAUSE WITHOUT HIS BLOODLINES CHAMPION NATRIX WOULD NEVER EXIST AND THERE ARE MANY MORE OF JIM BISS'S CHAMPION BIRDS THAT CONTAIN THIS BLOODLINE.JUST MY OPINION ;)
Guest Owen Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 I think you have to face the facts, there are plenty of Fanciers who think you can buy their way to become winners. And if you know what you are doing there is some truth in it. But by far the best way is to learn to do it yourself. Sellers will always tell you what you would like to hear, and some will tell you down right lies. So it seems to me that if you believe what you see on the adverts you are really kidding yourself. How do you really know what the parentage is of any bird that you buy? I know that a lot of Sellers that will tell you that the bird you have bought is out of the best birds. There is no garantee that they are though.
