Blue Pied just landed - Wet Green smelly dropping

Bird has just landed on the loft, double rung with race rubbers on 09 bird. Noticed wet smelly green droppings on roof and looked like grass in them. Any thoughts about this? Should i scare it off or try and catch him?

Thanks

if you feed and water him outside he is unlikely to just clear so what are you going to do then? Keep your birds in the loft until he flys off or dies?

Do yourself and the owner a favour, catch the bird and isolate it in a cage etc, give it a light feed and water, report it to the owner and take it from there.

That's exactly the way I play it. Most times all the bird needs is a drink a bit to eat, and a rest, and it'll clear within the hour. If not, no point leaving it outside, could attract unwelcome attention, so it comes in and goes into a spare nest box.

I get 'em in feed and water report immediately.

Can't understand people not letting birds in, yet every week they put there birds in a crate with others. Transporters have drinkers serving several crates at a time.

No as far as im concerned no birds are coming into my loft, especially with wet green droppings. From my eyes it seems that too many fanciers are sending unfit birds, this must be the 10th stray ive had this year.

The wet green dropping are probably caused by hunger,a light feed and some water with electrolytes in will make a world of a difference.Give the bird a chance you would expect someone to do the same for any you loose,or at least I would.

Yes but you'd still put your birds on the transporter, drinking from the same drinker, as the most unhealthy birds in your fed wouldn't you !

Whats your problem mate? I havent actually caught the bird or else i would have posted the ring number. All i was asking was would people be prepared to catch it and risk anything or get rid of it straight away.  :( Oh and by the way as stated i have fed and watered it  :)

i agree it is a pain in the *expletive removed* when we have strays but wat cun u do ,what really gets me is when they are not stamped, how do they get away with it as its a rule they must be before being marked ,tut tut markers ,but alot of its down to the cost to get them back .

Well I never seperate, I know most do but! You either have disease control methods or you don't. I have had a bird sit on my loft for near a fortnight, coming in to eat and then go out when I go near the pen.

I was looking at a transporter yesterday and the drinkers run the length on most I think.

When the first bird comes back what has it brought back no matter how healthy it looks?
