grizzal Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 louella are selling some cracking busschaerts at the moment just looked and agree, anyone after whites should have alook
jack Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 ok pal what do you think of the white bussharts
OLDYELLOW Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 white squirrels and other small mammals that have no pigment are easy prey its natures way they stay the colour they was intended , i personaly wouldnt have whites as they glow like a beacon to hawks the light reflecting off them but each to there own not seen many whites on results
OLDYELLOW Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 there are exceptions to the rule but i have been moving away from dilute grizzles the darker the better
shotgun tim Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 i had a white griz hen she flew the channel(400+) 8 times and scored in the snfc,p hastie and son border fed unc there best channel pigeon was a white hen flew bourges 630 mile 4 times
OLDYELLOW Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 i had a white hen lost around loft this year hawked yes the colour of a bird dosent disable a bird from reaching its potential , all im saying is i wouldnt want white birds as im plagued with a hawk and another B.O.P we saw at Kirkys if these werent such i problem i wouldnt mind the colour been white
blaz Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 WHITE PIGEONS ARE HAWK BAIT I THINK ASK FED TOPPER HE HAD A FEW AND THE NICK NAME HAWK BAIT
Fair Play Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 I can remember the late Jack Adams timed in a good white bird (From Pau) bred by the late Leslie Davidson Jack had said whites would never fly the channel Leslie was out to proove him wrong
Guest asha Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 To many myths in this sport that don`t stand up,we have just imported White`s into our lofts for experimental purposes, this very very inbreed true family have survived for well over 40 years(FORTY)in wide open no shelter,no trees, perigrine infested territory, when EVERYTHING else has been destroyed,we have already beat the ambushing Sparrowhawk, for sure it ,took a while, but those slaughteryard bloodbaths are long gone, and if we succedd with those whites, could mean the dawning of a new era
Guest asha Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 the late great jack Adams never said that,if you remember the banter between the two of them, jack was always tryin to color up his Pau birds flights,Beetroot juice, ribina, cayeyye pepper jack tried the lot,and the point he tried to make, quite rightly, was the end of the white, mealy type birds flights faded and thinned out as the season progressed.
shotgun tim Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 if percy is hunting it doesnt matter what colour the bird is blue, pink, sky blue pink with yellow dots ITS DEAD
Guest asha Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 What a load of crap,i`ve seen my great racer"ROCK" outstrip a peragrine,on the level, not a downrun mind, and turn him over that`s just coming in from nantes 300 mile.
Guest asha Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 fanciers who say hawks and falcons take white birds first know very little, about this problem. Know your enemy
wayne77 Posted November 15, 2008 Report Posted November 15, 2008 white squirrels and other small mammals that have no pigment are easy prey its natures way they stay the colour they was intended , i personaly wouldnt have whites as they glow like a beacon to hawks the light reflecting off them but each to there own not seen many whites on results Darren Mcfaden raced excellent hen think snow queen was her name, 3 times in result from Pau/Tarbes in LSECC. But how many whites(pure) do you put through at marking on Friday night? I can't remember ever putting pure through :-/ so think very few entered to compete against all blues and cheqs. Wish had pure white, will speak to Ben ;D
BLACK W F Posted November 15, 2008 Report Posted November 15, 2008 i find it strange people saying whites are hawk bate when i had my birds out in the wilds just moved them the beginning of this season when i let them out lost one to sparrow hawkmost days i had all colours but a lot of blacks mrs sparrow hawk took any colour and i would say more blacks or dk cheqs than any other may be Scottish sparrow hawks are not as fussy as English ones the mind boggles lol cheers Alan
Peckedhen Posted November 15, 2008 Report Posted November 15, 2008 I have had 24 white Logans out flying most days for the past three years and only lost one to a hawk, I think, as they came back very split up.
