ally mac Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 look at the wee thing the wife got a couple of months ago, dont think it would scare many rats though.
Fair Play Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 Ally - hope nobody sees you taking it for a walk you will have to wait until it's dark ;D ;D
ally mac Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 I know what you mean Tom, never thought I would see the day. The things you do for a quiet life eh :-/ Linda reckons if I can have dozens of pigeons she can have a wee dug. Struggled to argue with that I'm afraid :-/

nodge Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 i have 2 jacks out with me every day, and they used to chase the mice around the lofts, but the problem was the mice were there every day, thats untill i got myself a ferret. i just spread the ferret droppings around the back and underneith the lofts, now the dogs are redundent and just run about and play all day, not seen a mouse in over a year now.

A guy up the road comes down with his ferrets twice a week and brings there dirty bedding with him and ferrets go all over compound and bedding spread out but about 20mins after he goes the rats come out. Doing my head in they are stealing eggs and chewing my loft for fun

just ask me Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 i seen a ratting video where they used a chainsaw (without blade of course) they had a piece of pipe to the exhaust to put down in the hole also i would imagine not sure i think they had it modified to put out more smoke the rats flew out and they had a gang of terriers outside ready and waiting they killed some rats it was unreal maybe there someone here that could shed more light on this i have yet to this day see a better way to get rats out of there holes and once u have them out that more than half the battle won im sorry i cant tell u how they modified the chainsaw it was years since i seen it just an idea might be a bit extreme but from your posts u would seem to try anything at this stage
blackswan Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 you would be better putting down some rat and mice bait make sure there is no feeding about that will do the trick dogs running around the garden pi-----ing and the other is no good for the pigeoins.you can get the bait at your local farm suppliers best of luck
pigeonpete Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 think you should be ashamed of your dog craig! killing a little baby leopard. ;-)
Craig05 Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 The opposite mate, he has had that toy for 2 years now and wont go anywhere without it. the photo makes it look as though he is killing it, but he really is just carrying it around with him.
Peckedhen Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 How big is a rat hole? I have a hole at the bottom of the garden, well away from the loft. Its only about 1" diameter, I put a stone over it but, whatever lives there dug its way out again, at the side of the stone. I've never seen any rodents or their dropping so I'm not too concerned, just wondered??? :-/
