blaz Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 how many of you that went to Blackpool seen birds jam crammed in to baskets. i was told today from a mate that was their that he seen a lot of white rapido busshartes rammed in to baskets .birds where still rammed in the baskets on the Sunday. i also have read on other thread that that their was baskets of thumlers crammed together. is their not any one their for the welfare of the birds that the feather merchants take to this show sale
Guest bakes Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 yep one stall had racers, fantails, rollers for sale as well as a few more breeds on the side there was 3 crates the misses said to me look at that the crate was rammed full of birds not good
Guest Freebird Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Welfare should be number one priority and the organisers should have rules in place and anyone breaking these should have birds confescated, I feel.
blaz Posted January 18, 2010 Author Report Posted January 18, 2010 i am surprised that the R.S.P.C.A do not have any officers having a look round the sale.
Guest bakes Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Yes mentioned it yesterday since then however i seem to recall the same people doing exactly the same in 2009 at the show - I did think in 2009 that maybe they had cleared the loft out and took everything to sell. Betting is 2011 will be much the same you thinking of the same bloke long hair with a young gal and lad selling white rapido busshys £25 had a grizzle exhibition tumbler for sale as well and a pair of white fantails same room as mnfc as soon as you go up the stairs was on the right hand side first stand had 3 crates full 1 of show racers 1 of tumblers or rollers and 1 full of rapido busshaerts all the best.
mealybug Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 He had crates of birds under the counter as well. Because there were so many in the crates the smell wasn't very pleasant either, he should be reported.
Novice Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 A friend of mine asked if that was his complete stock of tumblers and he replied "I can get more"
Shortcut Lofts Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 He had pens full on stand and i counted 14 crates FULL to the neck with birds, and the smell alone from the crates.....
Guest lenwadebob Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 I think he is the one who is always advertising on BirdTrader. The show organisers should stop this sort of seller from having a stand at Blackpool, as it gives the sport a bad name. Where were the officials when needed. Appalling situation, and one of the first stands I saw when I come into the show from the main entrance, it didn't give a good impression. I purposely went to the stand on the Sunday morning and asked to handle some of the birds, and many had rings on that had been tampered with.
J.Brandon Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 they were not in the best condition either tail flights missing and broken ect the R.P.R.A had officials walking round the place but i suppose they would have had to of made a dessision on it so not very likley i'm afraid > also suppose it is upto us the fanciers walking round to say something either to the stall holder or the show organizers if you feel strongly enough about it.
Williedoo Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 I would be amazed if they sold much birds, the first thing I thought when I saw them was that they probabley had every desease going. If they can cram birds in like that and let people see it, they must have thought it was ok,just made me think how they were looked after in their loft.
Henrik Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 RPRA should not allow these people to have a stand again. S,pose we all should write to the BHW and complain about this stand.
pjc Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 It was D & T Lofts, same as the ones selling show racers last year with the ring number filed off! This year unrung! Come on Badgeman, explain yourself?
swilcox Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 There are always a few stands that have pigeons that are not in 100% condition and normally they tend to be those that dont or have never raced, this is the main reason we dont have a stand now has the higher quality birds are often found outside at the auctions (not always). I did have time to look around on Sunday and i will say that Tumely Lofts, Ian Axe and Premier Stud had there birds looking very well but 1st prize goes to Frank Tasker, not only in good nick but top lines too. Still think frank should get a bird with big tits to stand in the video booth tho!!!!! ;D

I intend too, an email will be sent today. And I will be there next year to see if they act on the complaints they undoubtedly will receive judging on the comments made on this thread about this feather merchant.
mark croker Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 I went to the same stand last year and handled some birds, i fancied a yellow, every bird i looked at had pin *expletive removed* in every feather i could look at, i have never seen it before or since, all the birds looked like crap to me, too much heat and noise for them and its just not fair The best looking birds i seen was on the stand next to the blake loft raffle ticket tables, I cantr remember the name of the lofts but i do remember how good the birds look, anyone know the name of it ?
blaz Posted January 19, 2010 Author Report Posted January 19, 2010 i think their should be someone going round the sale and if it is as bad as that no warning just tell them to pack up and go home. sooner or later their will be someone charged with crulty at the show sale . can any members put up names for them that where doing this at the show sale
mark croker Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 At the same stand last year, he had baskets full of rapidos, people were taking them so fast i asked him were they free, he said no 80 quid, i ;D ;D ;D and walked away ;D
Guest peter4pm Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 I have to say im glad to see a thread about this ..it was the first stand myself and my mrs saw after paying our 5 pound entry to the show ...i personaly was disgraced by it and was going to cause a fuss about it right there and then to the stall onswers but mrs said leave it ....it was totally out of order and the birds themselves must have been stressed out there minds. the people who ran the stall deserve a good kicking for such cruelty ENOUGH SAID!
mark croker Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Thats the one,, the condition was spot on, thanks mate

Guest bigbok Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 i saw it he was nothing more than a pigeon dealer selling sh** hope noone bought from him
kirky Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 in past years i have bought kirkpatricks from D&T Lofts and thay have been good & bred prize winners, went to buy more this year and i was horrified to see the birds on show & birds in the crates, as said he should not be aloud a stand next year.
