Does anyone still race the old lines of W.McAlpine or D Forsyth

Wasn,t aware that W.McAlpine raced the Bricouxs but yes I have the Bricouxs X with the old Sions which I hope will do well from the distant races.

I got them years ago from a old guy called Dick Sparey, he had a loft full of Bricoux pigeons he said that some of them came from W Mcalphine, i thought they were Bricoux pigeons but i might be wrong.

Got a few of the old jock reid strain and a hen from Jackie Bunch's doos aswell so i'll see how they go this year but i scored in every club race over 25o mls last year so here's hoping but??????

soory forgot to add early doors they will be flying roundabout Derek

you wont get much better than those alf , you sound dead keen to score at the distance so with keenness and jock reids , jackie bunches lines ,lets hope you get a good one ,,,,,,a good 2 or 3 year old [the auld heid for the hard road :)] this  maybe just your year , best of luck anyway :)

John McAlpine (followed by his son Wille ?) was Dr Andersons loft manager. Was reading Dr Andersons book during the winter, put up a couple of chapters from it on here.

He rubbed shoulders with all the old names, and knew Dr Bricoux and Paul Sion personally. I'm sure he had both strains in his loft.

The bit I missed was what happened after Dr Anderson died? Did John / Wille McAlpine inherit his pigeons?

read this article again , and they say w hood is new ;D   when i first raced w hood in 1984  [natural b4 that ] i think i was the only w hood flier in the fed,, they said it couldnt  be done in scotland,[,laughed at me ;D],,,,due to the hills :-/ :-/    well a year or two after that i won 14 races out of a total of 17 races ,, with a small team in the one season,,,,,,,,,,,,,there are more on w hood now in scotland ;D, but very interesting article i,b  .......as far as your question at the end , ib, , it was willie mcalpine who was loft manager and was left most of the birds, as far as i know , good reading though :)

I used to go to Willie for birds some cracking birds you went into an outhouse and he had what he thought was your requirements all set out  in cages I am sure there were the old Stassarts blended there as well My grandfather had birds from the good Dr, long back and I know Davie Forsyth's loft was mostly if not all W.Mcalpine's
